I said in another thread how if you’re younger (really like 30 and down) it’s going to be pretty hard to move on from people like Tony or Dez. It’s heartbreaking because they’re all we know.

Not to mention, JG has had enough talent to win it all. Now, those 90s teams were more talented, but it isn’t like we haven’t had enough talent to win one.

It’s extremely painful when you have incredible talents like Tony and Dez, probably soon to be Witten and Lee not get one. It’s hard to let go. I’m extremely bummed about Dez. I don’t care what anyone says the dude loved this team. He actually cared if we won. I don’t get that vibe about many of the players or coaches not just on our team but on any team.

I wish I wasn’t so young in the 90s because that would’ve changed my perspective on a lot of this. But it ain’t easy for us young guns to let go of guys like Dez. I’ll be mourning it for awhile. I feel blessed to have watched him play. Who knows, it could be an extremely long time that another Cowboy WR surpasses him. Might never happen.

It’s always team > player, but this was handled so poorly. I don’t feel pathetic for being butt hurt by it, he’s the best Cowboys WR I know (TO was never really a true Cowboy).

Dez really showed his "love" for the team by saying all those hateful things when he got cut.

I agree 100% Tony and dez is as close as us guys in our 30s and younger ever got to greatness. They were absolute ballers. But sadly we have a lunatic running the asylum. The departure of d-ware. The refusal to find a way to keep a team that clicked in tact by keeping demarco Murray. The way this dez situation was handled. Losing romo. All those things hurt. Just like I did with romo, murray and ware I've spent many hours watching dez highlights since the news broke. It's hard to let go

He feels like he was done wrong (he was). He was willing to take a pay-cut and stay on a team that was going to feature the run. Not to mention they waited so late in the free agency game to do it. Cmon no one likes everyone they work with. We showed him no respect

This is an interesting point. Us old guys have both the 70’s and 90’s to look back on, and we are used to top players coming and going. It hasn’t dawned on me that to younger people Romo, Dez, Witten ... are all they have to cling to.

It’s literally all I know brother as far as success. I became a fan during the Campo era

He was coddled, overpaid and underperformed. He was paid too 5 money. He has zero legitimate complaints.

We should have showed him the door at least a year before we did. He showed a lack of respect for the organization, his coaches and his teammates with his rant. Dez deserved worse than the received.

Well just have to agree to disagree. I understand he underperformed, so did the entire offense though.

We don’t know if he was willing to take a significant pay cut, and the Cowboys had to get soemething done in free agency themselves before deciding to let Dez go.

You deserve a lot worse than you got from Dez.

Lucky for you, you're going to get what you deserve.

They couldn’t swap out the entire offense though, and Dez’s contract situation was a big reason he was vulnerable. Some say there were other issues, and maybe there were, but I think it takes a lot of speculation to go down that path

Feel same.

Millennials, you'll get over it. I have no experience as a Cowboys fan to compare how you feel about Dez. The treatment Tom Landry received when Jerry Jones bought the team was disrespectful, but I kind of knew his days were numbered. The release of Emmitt Smith was painful but again, I kind of knew his days were numbered. Those are the two events that really affected me as a Cowboys fan but they still aren't the same as what you millennials are feeling with the Dez situation. I personally saw this thing coming from a mile away so I'm not shocked what-so-ever. But it seems this has caught some of you by surprise. I hope the coming season eases your feelings. Winning cures all.
