Age Gaps

Dez called out Garrett and his staff and those who stabbed him in the back. You can call Garrett and the players out but Dez cant?
Don’t bother with him. The Dez axe he’s been grinding isn’t even the size of Andy Dufresnes that they found after he escaped. Him and xwalker both. Now that he’s gone they will both find another player to do the same towards.

I started watching in 1970. Every few years there are a core of players that you associate with that time period. Staubach on offense and Lilly on Defense in the early 70s. I can tell you the whole roster and their jersey numbers off the top of my head. Then I think of the eighties as Danny White and some other guys. Later it was The Triplets who are legends equal to the seventies teams. Some time periods have gaps with no greatness. Try naming a couple of starters from 1987. This time period has had true greatness but no results. Ware, Romo, Dez, Witten, and this oline. It's sad because I think in some ways this time period had players as great as the Super Bowl winning teams but had no direction and poor coaching.

This is probably the greatest Dallas team to not win a Super Bowl and it's hard because we had the talent. We lacked the coaching. I don't hate Garrett but if Dallas had this roster and Bellichick or half a dozen other coaches they would have won a Super Bowl. Maybe more.

He was coddled, overpaid and underperformed. He was paid too 5 money. He has zero legitimate complaints.

We should have showed him the door at least a year before we did. He showed a lack of respect for the organization, his coaches and his teammates with his rant. Dez deserved worse than the received.
What is too 5 money

I said in another thread how if you’re younger (really like 30 and down) it’s going to be pretty hard to move on from people like Tony or Dez. It’s heartbreaking because they’re all we know.

Not to mention, JG has had enough talent to win it all. Now, those 90s teams were more talented, but it isn’t like we haven’t had enough talent to win one.

It’s extremely painful when you have incredible talents like Tony and Dez, probably soon to be Witten and Lee not get one. It’s hard to let go. I’m extremely bummed about Dez. I don’t care what anyone says the dude loved this team. He actually cared if we won. I don’t get that vibe about many of the players or coaches not just on our team but on any team.

I wish I wasn’t so young in the 90s because that would’ve changed my perspective on a lot of this. But it ain’t easy for us young guns to let go of guys like Dez. I’ll be mourning it for awhile. I feel blessed to have watched him play. Who knows, it could be an extremely long time that another Cowboy WR surpasses him. Might never happen.

It’s always team > player, but this was handled so poorly. I don’t feel pathetic for being butt hurt by it, he’s the best Cowboys WR I know (TO was never really a true Cowboy).
thanks for being honest...shows courage

Started watching in 1960 have seen a lot of favorites cut sucked every time this one was done wrong like many others were

Millennials, you'll get over it. I have no experience as a Cowboys fan to compare how you feel about Dez. The treatment Tom Landry received when Jerry Jones bought the team was disrespectful, but I kind of knew his days were numbered. The release of Emmitt Smith was painful but again, I kind of knew his days were numbered. Those are the two events that really affected me as a Cowboys fan but they still aren't the same as what you millennials are feeling with the Dez situation. I personally saw this thing coming from a mile away so I'm not shocked what-so-ever. But it seems this has caught some of you by surprise. I hope the coming season eases your feelings. Winning cures all.
mr Joe---- very true..winning cures most all ailments in fanhood....but here is the thing...would it suprise any of us...if we went either 12-4 or 4-12?
i dont think it wouild...but it would surprise all of us if Patriots with a healthy Tom Brady went 4-12...i believe i big part of our anxiety is the current leadership culture at cowboys is not stable...we hope to do good and maybe we will...but because of recent past that other shoe could drop and it does hurt a lot...hence i think it this lack of stability and trust in leadership magnifies our anxiety when certain players get released.....just my two cents

gp you started watching in 1960?..wow dude that is long time..i started watching super bowl 5 against Colts in 1971...(i was the first on my block in 6th grade to get a 12-inch black and white TV in my room for Christmans 1970)...and it was a heart breaking loss to the Colts..16-13...but i became stone cold Cowboy fan cause i loved how that star looked on the helmet...and been one ever since...but hats off to you

I started watching in 65. There were highs and lows in the 60s, and 70s too. The 80s showed promise, but the bottom fell out. The 90s had many highs but then Johnson left, and players went out of control.

I’ve been a Cowboys fan since the season (67) of the Ice Bowl Game. I’m still bummed about that loss. Hayes, Meredith, Perkins, Renfro were in their prime. It’s been sweet.

Hopefully the younger Cowboy fans will enjoy many championships during their lifetime.

Go Cowboys :flagwave:

I agree 100% Tony and dez is as close as us guys in our 30s and younger ever got to greatness. They were absolute ballers. But sadly we have a lunatic running the asylum. The departure of d-ware. The refusal to find a way to keep a team that clicked in tact by keeping demarco Murray. The way this dez situation was handled. Losing romo. All those things hurt. Just like I did with romo, murray and ware I've spent many hours watching dez highlights since the news broke. It's hard to let go

Dez couldn't hold Mike Irvin's jock.

We didn't lack coaching. We lacked a defense. All everybody can remember is the offensive players. All five of the Superbowls we won we had a GREAT defense. We haven't had a great defense since.....well you know

It’s so hard
To say goodbye
To yesterday

I ain’t mad at cha...

I guess it's just the eternal optimist in me but it would shock me if this current team did any worse than 9-7 and we haven't even drafted yet. I don't see the coaching as an impediment like many others do. I like what the FO is doing and that includes cutting Dez. Dez is showing his true colors now with his loud mouth. He's being the undisciplined person he's always been. Sorry I don't share your gloom and doom outlook. I'm a glass half full kind of guy. Life is just much better that way. You ought to try it, that anxiety you mentioned will melt away.
