Dak is NOT the past l, present or future of this franchise. The sooner he’s gone the better. That’s if SBs are your ultimate goal. Rush isn’t either but for the 100th time. He gives us a better chance at winning than Dak.

I don't think Jerry agrees, but this is why I've said you ride Rush until he loses a game. Fans need to see that happen.

Otherwise they'll boo every incomplete pass by Dak, as if Rush never throws one. He'll be Mr. Perfect until he loses a game. Ride the Rush train until if/when it crashes.

What happens if Rush loses and Dak loses? Can we at least have a conversation hat perhaps the QB this team needs isn't on the roster?

I don't want to get into yet another Dak debate, but we still don't know whether Dak would do better with this great defense the same as Rush has.

Dak managed a measly 3 points with the same defense that held Tampa Bay to one touchdown and four field goals. Dallas' offense - led by Dak - scored 3 points in the first half and that was it.

So the jury is still out on how much more improved we will be if and when Dak assumes control of the offense.

I'm with Aikman. If Rush keeps winning, it's going to be an interesting dilemma. I support keeping Rush as the starter as long as we're winning. I think you've got to ride the hot hand.

But we're not going undefeated from here on out. At least I don't think we are. So Dak is going to come back as the starter. We'll see if he elevates the team, maintains/plateaus or struggles even with this defense.

One of the complaints logged in this forum is that Dak needs players around him. Well, now he has a great defense.

This is the year the excuses and rationalizations get answered about Mr. Rayne Dakota Prescott.
I like how the questions have been (mostly) answered for Cooper Rush. But the goal posts got moved. We went from "we'll never win another game with Cooper" to "well he's an okay back up but..."

Well okay. with just a handful of games under his belt...is this is ceiling? Or are you gonna be wrong AGAIN?

(Not YOU you, Mr. Doe...you as in to whoever it applies>)

The goal is to score points with every possession... (unless you're running out the clock). That's how I know.
And you run out the clock during the game also, right?

The NY Giants played keep away from the potent Buffalo Bills offense in Super Bowl 26.
They didn't score on every possession - although I'm sure they would have liked to.
But ... they shortened the game with an emphasis on the run and, thus, kept the Bills offense off the field.
You need a more multi-faceted strategy than just "We'll score on every possession."
That's just unrealistic.
So, to my point, the team saw that the defense was playing lights out, that special teams were playing lights out and likely saw no need to have Rush pass the ball as much.

Also, to my other question, do you think the strategy would have been different had Dak been quarterback?

The fact that they couldn't keep Donald off Rush might have also had something to do with that. If we HAD tried to pass 35 times in that game I am certain we would have gotten to see the debut of Will Grier in a Cowboys uniform. They had to pick their spots to throw the ball.. and don't forget how badly the pass failed them in their red zone trips. I think after those two drives McCarthy had seen enough and told Moore that if he called another pass they were going to have to meet outside in the parking lot..
I agree.

Fair enough. :)

My point with Rush is the same with Dak. Wait until teams get a full season to evaluate him. Then we'll see how good he actually is.

Dak played lights out the first year. I was in favor of him remaining quarterback even though Romo was healthy. But the film caught up with him the next year as the better coaches and teams were able to exploit his weaknesses.

The same will be true for Rush, if he gets to that point. That's why I'm cooling my jets. Yes, I'm happy that his play is keeping us at a winning level. But if he continues as starting quarterback, the league will figure him out. How he will handle being figured out remains to be seen.

No, no it doesn't. The offense is about as dynamic as a fart with Rush behind center, and all the offensive numbers prove it.

Oddly enough this reminds me a bit of when Aikman went down in 91, but the team was playing well and winning with Beuerlein.

Jimmy stuck with Beuerlein, but Aikman was the better player.

Eventually it caught up with them, although they would have lost to Detroit no matter who the QB was that day. Still tough when you put up a 6 on offense.

Not if Rush looks like crap doing so. If he drops 450 on the Eagles, then you start to ponder.
Exactly, but if he does what he's been doing all along, which is just enough to not lose the game for them, then it goes right back to Dak.

Valid point, if Dak doesn't light it up right away...which he doesn't tend to do.

It's crazy Rush is getting the hype over beating the Rams. He had 102 passing yards No TDs. The team won with defense and running the ball. I hope we keep the same philosophy when Dak comes back. I am wondering why teams don't force Rush to beat them. Stop the run and make the Cowboys win by throwing the ball. If the defense wasn't playing as well as it's been playing we would be shouting at the top of our lungs to get a better backup QB because Rush is a bus driver. I mean I remember everyone shouting that in the preseason. It's funny how we forget. Rush is playing mistake-free which I like but Dak is the better player and that is facts.
Well, not exactly mistake free, but lucky his mistakes haven't bitten him in the butt yet.

Stats, my friend.

That's what matters to the Dallas Prescott fans.

They don't care that we won by 2 TDS, but instead they care that Rush didn't have crazy stats.
I think their ego and former opinions take precedent over reality.

we have a 4-0 team with a quarterback no one wanted and everyone said has a baby arm. Now we need more yards outta the guy?

this defense has been here.

Dallas was home against San Fran and home against Tampa bay. Those two teams didn’t make the super bowl last year. The rams and bengals did …

If you see me talk trash about Dak only throwing for 100 yards after a win then call it. You predicting someone is going to be a hypocrite isn't calling anyone out.

Until then pipe down.

Sorry speech police this is an open forum. As long as I abide by the rules
