Believe me it’s a habit he has and it’s gotten worse over the years. There was a get together with him, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith and Jimmy a few years ago and he was constantly chuckling. It didn’t matter who was talking he was chuckling. It could be because he’s gotten so relaxed in front of the camera. I don’t remember him chuckling as much in the booth when he first started broadcasting.
You pay me 17.5M to do football games and I am going to be a chucklin' fool. I might have to be put on a sedative drip in the booth.

No one plans on being annoying in front of millions of people. I firmly believe he’s oblivious to it. He obviously doesn’t listen to himself to critique his broadcasts because if he did, I think he would stop doing it.

This country has gotten weird and the Cowboy's forum followed. Good news is this post will be completely forgotten by the time the clock strikes midnight.

I'm sure he has many sycophants other than Joe Buck telling him how great he's doing as well.

Absolutely! Madden was hilarious, while making astute observations...Well, maybe not always astute, but accurate!

You mean how the fumble they were showing in super slow mo really wasn't a fumble ..... because he called it a fumble to begin with so he would then making gibberish comments and sound effects combined with belly laughs?

Madden was victim of what made him famous was also what made him annoying because he just kept to that "formula" no matter what. Just once, if he would have just said (in a plain voice) "I was wrong there folks. Pat, I'm gonna just shut up for a bit. Carry on.".

I was actually referring to his talking about things like sweaty butt cracks and such.

He was too smart for most football fans.
yeah, plus that personality type needs to be a bit player not there for every play. like in a separate booth & can buzz in when he has something to add.

Is it me or when ESPN decided to pay him all that money did they decide to have he and Buck loosen it up and have Troy play the part of laughing sidekick? He laughs at what Buck says as well as the ref analyst.

Last night he even referenced “staying out of trouble” when they had a shot of the French Quarter. There was definitely something going on between he and Buck with that comment.

I have noticed he has developed this habit of chuckling before he is going explain something that is really not funny. It sounds like forced personality.

ESPN even had them in those funky yellow ABC blazers last week and it was evident they were not happy with that.

I have always liked Aikman’s presentation even when he compliments the Eagles, which causes most here to chant “get a rope”! But this new one does not fit him well.
.
I think what happened is when they decided to go after him, they wanted a more Romo presentation for their money. Romo is more like having a loquacious buddy sitting on the couch with you watching the game. Aikman has always been a little stiffer than that.

So, I was wondering if others have noticed this change since he went from Fox to ESPN?
The new thing is be high energy in television and it’s kind of a drag.
Maybe it’s not a new thing but it’s more irritating now
