I don't disagree with Hos' analysis at all. Some don't like Aikman because he is not an absolute homer as a broadcaster and that is childish.

That, however, is not why I don't like Aikman and the fact that you said I didn't take Hos' analysis into account, lead me to believe, you were lumping me into that whole crowd.

I simply don't like Aikman as an announcer and it has nothing to do with his homerism, or lack thereof.

You misunderstood me from the onset.

Don't call me Tater Chip again.

I didn't misunderstand you a bit. You misunderstood me and went off. What I said was dead on accurate. Read your own statements. You said anyone calling these folks whiners were jock sniffers. I'm saying we're not. And I have zero issue with you disliking Aikman. Your opinion and you are entitled to it. And in terms of Tater Chip, there is nothing malicious in it, it happens to rhyme with rip. "Don't give a rip Tater Chip". I was simply rhyming. I think it was you who called me Tater Chip in a personal way. :) So, don't call me Tater Chip again. Got it? ;)

You most certainly did misunderstand me because you assumed I don't/didn't agree with Hos' analysis.

If you had "zero issues" with me disliking Aikman as a broadcaster, why have you even responded to me in this thread?

The bottom line is, you misinterpreted my original post.

I think Troy tries too hard to not be a homer. He's really good in the booth just not when he is doing Cowboy games.
You got it right...they're not suppost to be bias, and he tries to hard. But he is one of my favorite announcers, although I'm not a Cowboys fan.

Sarge, I've got to run so I don't have time to carry this on. I will finish with this, and you can then have the last word.

I didn't misinterpret you. I interpreted you NOT to disagree with Hos' analysis, but TO INFER that if we felt like some were being crybaby/whiners, it was because anyone DARED to not like Aikman as an announcer.

Here is what you said:

QUOTE: God forbid someone post an opinion on an annoucer. If you post an opinion on Skip Bayless it's OK - but if you post an opinion on Aikman you're a crybaby.

QUOTE: This thread wouldn't even EXIST if you change the words "Troy Aikman" with "John Doe" or any other non-Dallas Cowboy affilitated name for that matter.

It's the Aikman "people" that have a problem.

What is the problem with posting an opinion on Troy Aikman's abilities as an announcer? Disagree if you wish, but why do you have to label some as crybaby's?

One is entitled to his opinion - period.

I think Skip Bayless sucks - does that make me a crybaby?

It's the Aikman jock sniffers that are acting more like crybabys.

IN both of those posts you left the distinct impression that the reason why we labled some as crybabies and whiners was because THEY HAD AN OPINION ON TROY AIKMAN AS AN ANNOUNCER.

I said, to that viewpoint, WRONG. Our problem is not that some people don't like Aikman as an announcer. Our problem is that there are some saying he is a Cowboys basher, AND HOS HAS PUT TOGETHER A LIST OF BROADCAST STATEMENTS FROM AIKMAN THAT THESE PEOPLE NEED TO ENGAGE.

Now, whether I made myself clear enough is certainly up for debate. But based upon your statements, I didn't misunderstand you.

Now, if you want to say that you didn't communicate YOUR OPINION clearly enough, fine. But what else was I to conclude from what you posted?

Either way, it really doesn't matter that much, and I'd rather not argue about it forever. I stick with my original point. If anyone wants to say that Aikman is a Cowboys basher, let them engage Hos' list, or just admit that they enjoy holding to a viewpoint no matter what the evidence says to the contrary.

Ya- stick to your original point,...... "If anyone wants to say that Aikman is a Cowboys basher, let them engage Hos' list, or just admit that they enjoy holding to a viewpoint no matter what the evidence says to the contrary"

This is precisely where this all started and I simply tried to tell you 5000 different ways that was not my point.

Believe what you will......... you misinterpreted me and that is that.

You're telling me you didn't misinterpret me? :lmao:

Carry on.

For the past couple of years, I've heard from various members of this site about Aikman's supposed hatred and bias for the Cowboys. And after watching this past sunday's game against Washington, all I have to say is.......You guys are RIGHT!!
Ooh...The Cowboys aren't the class of the NFC.
Ooh...The Cowboys have an unfair advantage by playing at home on Thanksgiving and shouldn't be allowed to have a home game before Thanksgiving.
And Ooh...Garrett will be a HC with another team next year.

Well you know what, at 9-1 the Cowboys are the Class of the NFC and will have every opportunity to prove it with their schedule playing the best that the NFC has to offer.
You never heard him complaining about Thanksgiving games when he played in them, in fact some of his best games were played on Thanksgiving.
And lastly...I hate to tell you Troy, but when Jason Garrett is ready...he'll go. Every year some coaches butt is on the hot seat and to say that the window of opportunity will close next year is completely inaccurate. I'll stop short of saying that maybe some of that animosity may be caused by how the Cowboys were when his career ended and now it looks like some of the first records to fall in Dallas will be Aikman's...but if it keeps up, well it kind of makes you wonder. We will see if his attitude keeps up as the year progresses. To bad he won't be on hand for the Green Bay game.
Later...Dred

He also said "if the Cowboy hadnt have scored their last couple of touchdowns the skins would be in the lead" or something close to that, believe it or not

Here was my last message in response to yours Sarge:

"FWIW, your view ignores the fact that Hos has listed, numerous times now, factual statements from Aikman's own broadcasts that counter the views of those who are whining. Why don't they engage those statements? Because it doesn't square with their little conspiracy theory.

And if you are paying attention to what I'M saying, then you will notice that I said, CRITICIZE AIKMAN all you WANT, I don't give a rip, tater chip. Doesn't bother me a bit. I take no issue with those who just prefer other announcers. What I take issue with is the whole, "Troy doesn't say what I like him to say about our Cowboys.", all the while completely ignoring the positive things he has said, and WE HAVE IT ON RECORD.

Either (they should) engage Hos' factual points, or give up the conspiracy garbage. If that makes someone a jock sniffer I suggest you start sniffing, you will realize it is smelling salts you are sniffing once you come to your senses."

I have supplied (they should), to show you that in context I was speaking of anyone who IS whining but ignoring the facts that counter their conspiracy theory.

how can you tell its whining if youre only seeing it in print? Oh I know how, if you disagree, its "whining", got it

I concur. It's almost like he goes out of his way to not be seen as a homer.
Maybe it's just that some here are such homers that Troy's neutral stance comes off as negative.

whinning or no whinning you can't ignore that some of us take offense to the way Troy calls our games. I guess I'm one of the Aikman's crowd since it doesn't bother me. My brother on the other hand turns down the volume and listens to Brad Sham on the radio. I doesn't make him right or wrong. that's just the way he likes them apples.

I agree Troy shuld shut up. He is a has been and Tony is the rising star that is going to demolish all his records even the three SB's. Troy is a bit sour at the moment but he will come around.
I must say that even though Irvin had his off the field problems he is a class act and supports the cowboys he was the first person to say dallas should pick up T.O. and Staubach is also very classy he has even said he thinks romo may be better then he was.
Troy is so bitter but he needs to remember he had his time to shine and now is Tony's. I don't remeber Roger bad mouthing Troy when he tookover or talking trash on the Boys of the 90's.
Troy please shut up it just reminds us all that you are a has been and we like to think of you as a all time great and a hall of famer and superbowl champ not as a bitter has been.
A has-been eh? Could that be because he is retired? I guess that makes Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Jack Nicklaus, Pete Sampras, Nolan Ryan and Pele has-beens as well. God I can't stand those has-been cretins!

Just look at the title of this thread, and it tells you all you need to know. What is the title?

"Aikman's hatred for the Cowboys" - REALLY? He hates the Cowboys?

Now, if that is not objectivity I don't know what is. (as much sarcasm as I can muster)

And yes, I will stick with my original point, and I should, because it is right. Just read your own posts. This isn't about liking or disliking Aikman as an announcer. This is about a supposed "hate agenda". And the idea is moronic.

And why did he say "Clinton Portis MIGHT be his favorite player in the NFL?"

Because he picks up blitzes, he blocks, he does the little things that most backs won't or don't do.

If you know anything about Troy Aikman THE PLAYER then this comment wouldn't surprise you a bit. Aikman has always loved the guys who will do whatever it takes for your team to win.

I personally like Terrell Owens for the same reason. I don't know how many people pay attention to it (Aikman does because I've heard him comment on it before) but Owens is a great blocker and plays tougher than most WR's.
Seriously, I would have been more disturbed had he said that Julius Jones' was his favourite player in the NFL.
