For the past couple of years, I've heard from various members of this site about Aikman's supposed hatred and bias for the Cowboys. And after watching this past sunday's game against Washington, all I have to say is.......You guys are RIGHT!!
Ooh...The Cowboys aren't the class of the NFC.
Ooh...The Cowboys have an unfair advantage by playing at home on Thanksgiving and shouldn't be allowed to have a home game before Thanksgiving.
And Ooh...Garrett will be a HC with another team next year.

Well you know what, at 9-1 the Cowboys are the Class of the NFC and will have every opportunity to prove it with their schedule playing the best that the NFC has to offer.
You never heard him complaining about Thanksgiving games when he played in them, in fact some of his best games were played on Thanksgiving.
And lastly...I hate to tell you Troy, but when Jason Garrett is ready...he'll go. Every year some coaches butt is on the hot seat and to say that the window of opportunity will close next year is completely inaccurate. I'll stop short of saying that maybe some of that animosity may be caused by how the Cowboys were when his career ended and now it looks like some of the first records to fall in Dallas will be Aikman's...but if it keeps up, well it kind of makes you wonder. We will see if his attitude keeps up as the year progresses. To bad he won't be on hand for the Green Bay game.
Later...Dred

Hey...don't get me wrong, Troy always will be one of may favorites, right up there with Roger, TonyD and Emmitt, but when Steve Young gives more compliments to the 'boys than Troy does...do the math.

Naw, don't shut up. You're absolutely right. I watch the games with a rack of Boyz fans and we've been saying that about Aikman for years. I really don't care what he says or what he thinks about the Boyz but yes, plenty of people have noticed his comments regarding the Boyz...

I have to agree, I watch all the games with other boys fans and we all say the samething. We think that Troy is jealous of the success that Tony Romo is having and just seems to bash the boys everytime he broadcasts the game. We will enjoy watching the Thanksgiving game and not listen to his garbage about the Cowboys not being this and the Cowboys not being that. Sorry that his career may have been cut alittle short, but give credit where credit is do and get off the hater bangwagon.

I think Troy tries too hard to not be a homer. He's really good in the booth just not when he is doing Cowboy games.

Oh good Lord people, grow up! Aikman just said last week that he could see the Cowboys putting up a formidable challenge to any of the AFC teams in the superbowl. Aikman has also stated many times of his gratefulness of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, and his years of playing for the team.

What do you expect him to do? Be a homer for the team? Give me a break!

Too lazy to hit the link? Okay.

Per Troy Aikman, himself, not some lame opinion of his motives...
  • To me, Dallas is one of those teams that no matter the situation in the game, I just feel like they are going to do it. I feel like Tony is going to make a play or TO will make a catch and they will come back.
  • For people that didn't watch the New England game closely and look at the final score and say that got blown out, I disagree with them. That was a seven point game going into the fourth quarter and could have been a different game completely had Dallas gotten a couple of breaks. I still say if Dallas played New England 10 times, they may not win 5 but they would win 3 or 4; I really do. Dallas is better than Indy, San Diego and more complete than Pittsburgh as well.
  • If Dallas makes it to the SB, no matter who the AFC team is, this is not going to be an automatic win for them. Dallas is that good.
  • The best team I played on was the 1992 team. How would that team stack up against these Patriots? Good question. Mercury Morris said the 1972 Dolphins would steam-roll these guys. I try to be a little more objective. If you took the top five teams in '92 or even ten, I think those teams would be better than the best five or ten from this year. I think there is a lot of parity. I think New England, Indy and even this Dallas team could compete against us. I'm not saying they would win but they would compete. They big advantage we had was depth. These teams don't have as much. We would lose one player to injury and his back-up would be a Pro Bowler next year.

Pure hate right?

I concur. It's almost like he goes out of his way to not be seen as a homer.

He doesn't hate the team at all. Like others, I just think he tries too hard to sound unbiased at times. Oh well, overall the guy is still great in the booth.

Troy is not employed by the Cowboys nor is he paid to kiss Cowboys butt. Has he said things that have PO'd me over the years? Sure, but i respect him for tring to be as honest as he can. IMHO he's being objective and not disrespecting the Cowboys. He'll always be a Cowboy.

I think you may be on to something there.
I usually chalk up a lot of his criticizms of the Cowboys to him being an un-biased commentator but in this last game it was different. He really started annoying me and that is the first time I have listened to him that I could really say he was getting on my nerves.
Jason Garrett is a good coach and has a very bright future but I am sick of hearing commentators lobbying for him to get a head coaching job.
I mean why can't the offensive coordinator for the Patriots be put up as the next head coach somewhere??? They have a great offense...he's young...and they score more than us.
Plus Garrett has only been an off. coordinator for 1 season.
To hear the media hype Jason you would have thought that they knew he has always been a great coach.
I can remember Jerry Jones getting widely criticized for hiring Jason before he hired a head coach. Now all those same type of talking heads are pimping Garrett to be an NFL head coach. I am not lumping Aikman in with that bunch but hearing him sound just like all the rest of those hypocrites in the media was dissappointing.

Thank you...!! I get tired of hearing Cowboys fans moan about Aikman's commentary. He is one of the best at what he does. This thread is almost as stupid as the ones on ES that complain about Aikman being a jinx against the Commanders.
