How do these things equal each other?

Lael immediately got a job with a decent salary. That means he had value.

If someone gives Leatherwood $20million and a starting job, then you can talk.

It was a joke, well mostly.

How do you not sign this guy and put him at LG with the option to kick him out if needed to LT

He's interesting to me only because of the crap situation he was drafted into. Tom Cable who is notorious for ruining offensive lines was his coach and he came into the whole Mayock / Gruden mess. A kid who needed stability and good technique coaching came into a system that offered neither. I don't know that the Jones's and Philbin offer any better circumstances but he's the kind of player who would probably go to New England and thrive. He needs to stay at guard and get a season working with a different staff.

No one wanted to trade for him. Now was it more that he was a bust for them, or his contract, combination of both.
Teams will wait until he clears waivers since no trade was made. Then negotiate a new deal.

Some team will come calling. Take a flyer on him.

The Mayock draft era is aging like milk left out in the sun
I think the Raiders watched too much NFL network draft programming a few years ago and thought he was a super player evaluator. Well, that was a huge mistake. Yes, Mayock is indeed chunky milk.

hes got guaranteed money, doubt hes inspired to play for league min. from another team while he can meme all day on the raiders dime LOL one f the most expensive cuts so far this year. he will make more than Garoppolo by not even suiting up

The Raiders are that bad. They messed his development up. Pick a spot and move forward OG was his spot

I get that, but why release a 1st round pick after one season? Admittedly, I know nothing about their o-line or salary cap structure

He has been a horrible disappointment, but I don't see a reason not to kick the tires a little.

The Raiders ate $8 million in cap space to get rid of this heartache.

No.

After he's not claimed, I would have no problem signing him to the practice squad. But he was horrible with the raiders and isn't good enough to sign to the 53.
