dont like Gore, Bryant is ok.

The 49ers put on a pathetic display. how many of the egales big yardage plays came because the last defender failed to make a sideline tackle. allowing a run to go an extra 25 yards because of a stiff arm, that was just sorry, run through that stiff arm and take him out of bounds, dont try to grab him, just awful tackling over and over again.

No kidding, if you let a small panty waist like Bryan Westbrook stiff arm and run by you, then you should retire from football immediately.

no, they dont remind me of anyone that played here

Aikman was 100 times the talent Alex Smith is (or ever will be)
Emmitt was 100 times the talent Gore is (or ever will be)
Irvin was 100 times the player Bryant is (or ever will be

but they both have Norv...thats where the comparison ends

David

Give me a break, Db.

Alex Smith has improved greatly over what he was last year, may not ever do what Aikman did as far as winning goes, but he is not garbage compared to Aikman.

Bryant, contrary to what some choose to admit, is a fine #1 WR, and can do a lot of things.

Gore is still a work in progress, haven't really seen enough of him.

To say the triplets were 100 times better than what the niners have in those three young guys is greatly over-stated.

Give credit where credit is due. The Niners, much to my disliking, are on the way out of the cellar with their young guns.

Lets not forget about Davis either.

When they prove it they will get credit at least by me. Until then putting up big numbers after the game is already lost is not a big deal to me and means little. How you do when the game is on the line is what counts.

Could Alex Smith have a season comparable to Aikman's 1990 or even 1991 campaigns this year? Sure, why not? Could Gore best Emmitt's 937 yards from 1990 this season? I'm pretty certain he will provided he plays in at least 13 games. Could Bryant surpass Irvin's 1990 season, where he caught under 30 passes? Almost a guarantee he will.

This was meant as a pointing out of the curiosity of how similar certain aspects of the situation are. I also do believe that in a general sense the Niners offense will makes strides this year proportionate to the ones made by the Cowboys in 1990 and particularly 1991, when they got out from under the thumb of David Shula's playcalling.

LOL, no chance. Niner hater when they were good and worth hating, i.e. Deion's P.I. against Irvin that was never called or Merton Hanks with his irritating neck gyrations after interceptions or defensed passes. Just making an observation I thought might be relevant, or at least spark some discussion and/or outrage. :p:

Lots of trios can compare to the 1990 Cowboys in production. None of them did a whole lot that season, so it's nothing to brag about. But that chances of ANY of those players doing what Aikman, Smith or Irvin did during the rest of the 1990s is practically nil, let alone all three of them doing it.

Understood, which is why it was never meant as a year-by-year projection of how these guys will stack up against Aikman-Irvin-Smith over the long-term.

no not at all.. When Gore fumbled that ball and let Patterson take it all the way the only guy chasing him down was Smith..

Actually, according to nfl.com, both Gore and V. Davis ended up injured on that play, Davis when trying to run Patterson down. I think they're both out for a few weeks.

If these guys want to be the new triplets, they'll need to be a bit more healthy.

David.

They need to upgrade Bryant, but Smith and Gore look like cornerstones for years to come. Norv is obviously doing a lot for Smith's development as well. We're going to have to worry about these guys for a good while going forward.

Don't remind me of the triplets at all.

The only similarity is Norv is the O-Coordinator.

The closest to the Triplets I have seen is Indy with Peyton, James, ad Harrison, but they, unlike Dallas choked in the playoffs.
