Wow. Massive overreaction on this board.

Simple facts are these: Zeke will report by August 6, new contract or not. He can't become a free agent without accruing another season. If he fails to report by August 6, he doesn't get credit for an accrued season. If he sits, he doesn't get paid, and doesn't get any closer to being able to sign somewhere else as a free agent. Yes, his sitting out would hurt the team, but that would be a classic case of cutting off your nose to spite your face. He will play this season regardless of the outcome of this current "holdout". Meanwhile, he enjoys Cabo and misses the grind of pre-season practice and meetings.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT ZEKE. HE'LL BE THERE.

This Morris signing is not about Zeke. I think it is simply that the Cowboys have seen enough of Jackson, Weber, and Chunn to know that Morris is still better than any of them. And, I don't think this is a temporary training camp only signing. I think Morris is here for the season.

And that same year, Ajayi averaged 5.8 yards per carry with Philadelphia. Oh and he won a Super Bowl too.

There's more of a market for Ajayi than for Alfred Morris.

Jay Ajayi is a better RB when healthy. However, he is not healthy. He tore his ACL for the 2nd time in October last year. He has degenerative knees which is why he dropped to the 5th round in the draft. There is no guarantee that Ajayi could last one game before his knees blew out again. Then we would be stuck without a veteran RB and a hit on our salary cap for a guy sitting on IR collecting a check. BTW, where is this market for Jay Ajayi right now? I don't see teams bringing him in for visits. His knees are scaring most teams away.

He understands it that the nfl has the worst contract structures for players than any professional league in the world. The nfl gives players literally zero control over financial security in the most violent sport in the world. And zeke plays a position that has the shortest career average. As of right now I would tell zeke to sit until he can sign a big deal.

I'd be shocked if we signed ajayi, it's a reason why they drafted Pollard in the 4th round and so high on him contributing
Jay is a spot player at this point and you never know when those shot knees goes south during season.
I dont think cowboys believe they are that deprived of capable backup bodies

Actually the Saints picked up Rob Kelley, formerly of the Commanders.

Something must really be wrong with Ajayi's knees if guys like Kelley are getting in line ahead of him.

love ya man...but I just cant agree. His contract has 2 more years remaining. Why not play out this season THEN revisit the extension next year? Dallas and JJ has been extremely loyal to him. Don't you think he should return the favor and honor what he signed? Just a thought.

It's not like he had a choice. He didn't have an opportunity to negotiate the contract he signed. I realize it's hard for some that don't work in a job that is performance based. I'm in sales and have been in places with poor pay structure or don't want to increase $$ even if you are outperforming your current starting structure. So what are my options and what did I do. I left to another company. He doesn't have that same option.

They're certainly a concern, as they should be. And I'm nit advocating putting all of our eggs in his basket. But Super Bowl winning teams have shown that committee running backs work, and Ajayi himself has specifically shown that.

If my boss was loyal to me he would pay me right? And show me my value to the company not in words but in compensation. He can't leave. The team picked up his 5th year option. So he would have to play 2 years. Then they could franchise him for the 3rd season. Then as a rb will hit the open market at 27 years old. How's that market for a 27 year old rb that's had trouble off the field. And god forbid he has any injuries in those previous 3 seasons that will effect his value as well.
