so you're assuming (or hoping) Dakota's magic/mojo transcends this coaching staff's incompetency and history of tarnishing good players? I am too. All we have left to hope for.
Its always entertaining when people complain they want the coaches to use the shiny new toy. Then, when they do and the toy doesn't shine as well as they would like, it's still the coaches fault. It's really a thankless job.

To me, this is a very lengthy way of saying that the Giants keyed on Elliot in the run game. The way to attack that would have been to use the Giants aggressive game plan against them. In the game chat, there was note made of this. Screens, Counters, Misdirection stuff would have worked very well. We didn't do much of that. Look at the first frame and you will see 8 men in the frame. 8 players in a relatively small are means that you have a lot of room with only two possible players defending it on the field.

I don't know if that's a problem with our Coaching Staff not recognizing and adjusting or if it was a question of the Coaching Staff not believing that Dak and the Offense could adjust. Either way, this Defensive game plan was very, very predictable. High Profile Rookie RB plus Injury to Starting QB (enter Rookie QB) equals pressure designed to force the QB to change plays and execute on the fly. Result will generally be mistakes or failure to adequately adjust.

That's as old as pigskin footballs. The Giants did a good job of dictating what they wanted to happen but none of it is revolutionary. JMO

Not disputing your point but please learn when to use "of" and "have". The way to use it is: would have and could have
I think I am getting too old to use my phone for a communication channel via the typed word. Thanks for the grammar catch, it was early this morning and I knew something was off but could not put my finger on the problem even after proofing several times in my head.

Watch the third run described again. If Zeke is patient and follows off of Collins and Frederick he only has the safety to beat for a TD

Watch again. The only reason that hole opens up is because Zeke went inside and the defender Fred was working with switched sides.

Good stuff. My takeaway was what I thought I saw during the game.
The great o line got it handed to them. Elliott got impatient on a few runs. Play 5 in particular, if he slows down just a bit, written seals the edge and their is nothing but green to the outside.
Also, with their lbs and FS charging the line on every play, a little play action and quick hitting slant would have gashed them.
Exactly my thoughts. Their LBs and S were committed to stop the run. They were running downhill at the snap anticipating a run. With the aggressiveness of their LBs and Safeties, why didn't we run more play action and make them pay for their aggressiveness? Jeez!

You're not the only one but for some reason, when I see it, my eyes can't get past it I apologize for the OCD. Thanks for posting your football info though. Good reads.

"as soon as Elliot tries to run by him, he tosses Witten away like a rag doll and makes the tackle for a short gain."
"Thompson makes a great open field taken to stop Elliot for no gain. This is all set up though by the Giants DEs having the advantage over the Cowboys’ TEs for most of the game."
.

Seems to be a theme , I was surprised Witten's blocking was not upto his own standards, he got flagged for hold also.

If this trend continues , it will not be helping out running game

Look at the number of Giants in the box on each play he goes through.

Play 1 - 8 in the box
Play 2 - 6 in the box
Play 3 - 6 in the box
Play 4 - 8 in the box
Play 5 - 7 in the box
Play 6 - 6 in the box, possibly more
Play 7 - 8 in the box, basically 9
Play 8 - 8 in the box
Play 9 - 7 in the box with 8th pulled in by tight WR Beasley
Play 10 - 6 in the box
Play 11 - 8 in the box with 10 within 10 yards of the play.

Basically on half these runs there were 8 in the box. That is going to be hard to run on. The sad thing is that when they only had 6 in the box they still whipped our OL. Not a good effort at all by any of the linemen. You have to make hay when you are running against 6 in the box. Period.

They had 8 in the box because we were transparent in our intentions. Only 4 of those 11 plays did we have 1 TE in the game. That means 7 of those 11 plays featured 2 OR MORE TE's. And I only recall the one pass play from a 2 TE set in the game.

Rookie QB needs to have a little help in formations I think. You can ask Romo to play that type of ball, because he is recognized as a threat to an 8+ man front. Dak had a great preseason, but he's not yet the threat to beat you with his arm that Tony is/was.

I agree, posted it in my breakdown of plays in the thread about Dak missing Beasley on the last play. We did nothing to try and trick the Giants and they were definitely ripe for misdirection and audibles from run to pass.

Biggest takeaways:

-TE's couldn't block their DEs

-The defense seemed to know what we were doing most of the time which didn't help.

-Zeke's inexperience and lack of reps showed, yet his natural ability seemed to get positive yards each time.

Point 2 is the key takeaway...

They simply know what we are going to do, so they can set up their defenses to key in on is.. We fool nobody...

Even when Dez drops a pass in short-yardage lobs when we take one chance, it's not like the very next play we don't simply waste away our downs in predictable runs up the guy to put ourselves in unmanageable situations and settle for FGs..

I appreciate you not getting offended by his comment. You correct some people's grammar in this forum, and they have a hissy fit.

I welcome all corrections of grammar and spelling because I want to be in a continuous mode of learning, and some things may even elude my scope of knowledge.

Witten was pathetic.

He's been hovering below average run blocking for a couple years. This is what confuses me as to why the team won't go out and find a strong run blocking TE while reducing Witten's snaps. At least from 99% down to 75-80%.

for one im not complaining they use the shiny new toy. i wanted him to ride behind Romo and learn from the bench. im assuming you're referring to other folk here?

also the toy shined better than i thought. Dak is doing great for a rookie!

the coaching staff (particularly JG hand tied by GM) has continiously performed in a state of mediocrity. the math is there to point to this. this is not speculation or guessing or subjective.

its a thankful job when this staff can finally overcome their .500 stuck in mud system ways.

its no secret that playing this "take what the other team is giving us" (fg after fg after fg) philosophy of playing this game is not working.

so yes I hope Dakota can overcome this incompetency somehow. Romo has done a great job despite.

this fan relationship with the Dallas Cowboys is "complicated". its not binary or straight forward. it's nuanced. it's steeped and marinated and slow cooked. its not a PBJ sandwich like other fans relationships.

looking at a brisket and evaluating a brisket based on only a history of PBJ sandwiches is obviously limited.

What I'm hoping is Dak can manage enough of the offensive ship that we can focus on defense and put the team in the hands of Rod Marinelli, who has proven success as a coordinator. If we start building up a dominant defense, we won't have to put up 30 points a game, and we see how important defense is when Siemian, a 2nd year player, came in and got a victory over the Panthers because he didn't have to play perfect ball and constantly trade scores with the opposing quarterback.
We only needed 21 points against a very good giants offense which is far from your 30.

I agree we need to build the defense but they aren't so bad like most suggest that we need 30 points a game. Even last year it was low scoring for most games

Just not a whole lot to work with for Zeke on most of those plays. Teams know the tendencies of this offense and it isn't easy to beat good players when they know whats coming and sell out to stop it.

More read option please.
That is the key with Prescott......the NYG routinely had one more guy than we had blockers...it was7on6 or 8on7 or 6on5 when EE was in and Dak was under center....when Morris was in was 6on6 or 7on7

The read option evens out the odds without sacrificing the passing game......RWilson and Cam Newton run it extensively and don't get hurt because they are built like RBs,just like Dez......guys like RGIII and Manziel are too small to take the hits
