Dallas is in real good shape cap wise. If they cut Orton they get another 2.8m, leaving them at 11.3m under.

They should definitely get deals done with Dez and TSmith to get an extra year of prorating their signing bonuses out of the way.

The cap is expected to go way up again next year and the roster is younger than ever. Zach Martin, at 1.6m, has the 16th highest cap charge on the team.

Now is the time to start our next prolonged Playoffs era!!!!

Can we all agree to stop with the "X says X, so it must be true" or "I heard it here on CowboysZone, so it must be true" jokes. I am a "sun shine pumper" but these comments are just as annoying and predictable as those by the realists.

I've argued over and over with people on this board about how we aren't in cap hell.

I get to crow a bit on this one.

Dez or Smith gets resigned/extended. Would love to get both of them this year but probably only one

I don't want them to release Orton. Either he retires or he plays for the Cowboys.
Exactly, cutting him he walks with his salary. Only bad thing keeping him could be a problem in locker room with disgruntled player.

I think you can probably get both this year. You'll have to get creative but I think it is entirely possible with the way the contract can be structured.

He doesn't get paid if they cut him. They would save 3.25m in salary and about 2.8m against the cap.

No. We are in cap hell. Everyone says that, so it must be true.

Getting rid of high priced players and replacing them with rookies, players coming off injuries and JAGs can really improve the Salary cap overnight. Lets see how it works out.... first.

Lost: DWARE, Austin, Hatcher, no more franchise tag for Spencer

Gained: Z Martin, DLaw, Melton, short term deal for Spencer, Mincy, McClain...
