All I See Is Its T.O.s Fault, T.O. Drops, Blah Blah

Bottom line, TO needs to shut his festering gob, hang on to the ball, and remember he's a WR, not a QB, OC, or HC in this game. He does that and no one is upset with him. He brings it on himself by being a pugnacious blowhard. I feel no pity at all for the stone handed fool or his legions.

Now there is fair and balanced, no bias or TO-hate here.

Thank you for noticing.

I don't hate him, but I do want him to shut up and catch the ball.

Yeah it is like the guy in baseball who gets 3 hits in a game but strikes out in the bottom of the 9th with based loaded.
Some fans that dislike the guy ignore the fact that those 3 hits drove in 5 runs and played a big part in why it was tied in the 9th.

Sorry you don't understand that some guys come up in big situation and other don't. TO has not come up big in critical situation if you think he has then we just disagree. Irvin was that type of guy TO has not been for what ever reason. So do the eye rolling thing all you want but big time player tend to come up big when their team needs it the most and you find that in all sports. PS how was your Christmas? (not counting the game that is)

My memories of Irvin are fond ones too, same as yours (maybe 3 SuperBowls influenced those memories) but I am sure there were times that even he didn't make the play, or dropped a pass we needed.

All receivers do, RB's fumble, O-Line hold, QB' throw bad passes or even worse, INT's.

My memories of someone coming up big would be Emmitt, but even Emmitt fumbled on the goal-line or got stopped twice on 4th and short. (ie. Iggles game)

My only problem with Owens has been the drops, but that whole situation has taken on a life of it's own, ... I have seen 14, 17, 15, 12 when it comes to his drops.

Someone posted that TG only has had 3 drops all yr, ... that's ridiculous, I remember 3-4 in the past month, .. two in one game.

But that just goes to show that the "drop stat" varies and is not credible depending on who is quoting the stat or what stance they are supporting.

I hope he never drops another pass, but I also realize that is not going to happen.

I try not to dwell on the negatives, no matter what Cowboys player it is, I look at the catches, yards, YAC, 1st down catches, TD's, etc.

Had a good Christmas, hope yours was too.

He has dropped big time passes in big time situations and big time players don't do that. Has Irvin ever dropped 1 in critical situation I'm sure he has but not as many as TO in this 1 season. If what you look at is overall number I would agree good season but big time player make the plays.

Pretty nice Christmas. thank you

By all means go ahead and I will find threads for every other topic as well.

All on TO? Come one man, this fandom is not that stupid.

Trust me, I hate dropped passes, but the ones you are calling "critical" were in the 2nd or 3rd quarter, not OT or even the 4th qtr.

If we can't recover, as a team, from a play in the 2nd or 3rd qtr then we have no backbone.

I am not defending dropped passes, by any receiver, but don't exaggerate them either just because it was "your favorite WR !"

Happy New Year !

I don't know which phrase is funnier, TH.

"Festering gob" or "pugnacious blowhard".

Festering gob: it's got more of that old world flava...

TO needs to just shut up and catch more passes.

The fans and media just need to shut up.

The guy is leading the league in TD catches. He has a ton of yards. Those things are undeniable. So are his drops. He is not as good as he thinks he is or as bad as the media wants him to be. He's a tough cover and a playmaker but he is not a great hands guy. He should be used more early. Get him hot and watch the offense go. Not save him for home run attempts and then whine when he drops it. He's a short pattern guy and always has been.

How many receivers have been thrown to more than Terrell Owens? Heck if he put more effort into catching what was thrown his way he'd have well over 100 plus catches. I'm not even counting all the balls that hit him in the hands that he dropped.

If Glenn got the opportunities Terrell Owens did this year he would have put up better numbers.

Well, you remembered wrong.

Terry has exactly three drops this year.

Scroll down, and the same stats can be found on any of the well known stats sites.

http://snap.stats.com/snap/pfw/nfl/playerstats.asp?id=3515&Submit=Go

Just for those who don't realize it - all receivers get away with 'drops' when a penalty nullifies a play, or sadly for the QB, a pass bounces off the receiver's hands and the QB gets called for the the pick (which put a pick in poor Q's column in 03 and took a drop out of Terry's).

But inevitably, those with good hands get the stats they deserve, those with bad the same, and those with GREAT HANDS like Terry Glenn end up with their usual three/four drops stat a year.

If anyone cares (or dares) to argue that Glenn's and Owens' hands are in the same "category", with or w/o the broken finger Owens suffered this year or the one TG played quietly with in 03, be my guest.

But Glenn's hand are legendary, and even the TG Haters can't deny that.

If anyone thinks that TO has as good a hands as TG I just don't know what to say. Honestly, I only remember him missing one, last game, that should have been cought. I think the guy is amazing. It seems like with TO he drops passes that are "right there". I mean hitting him in stride. I AM NOT, LET ME REPEAT, AM NOT BLAMING THE SEASON ON TO'S DROPS. Just this argument between who has better hands, TG by a landslide.

The last few weeks, Owens apologists have been full flaming TG - misrepresenting his drops, chiming in the minute ANYONE criticizes TO with "well, Glenn, but Glenn," maintaining TG's one critique of the game plan last week translated to a personal whine equal Owens season long wailing, and even starting threads attacking him a few weeks ago.

I figured it was only a matter of time before they would try to deflect just criticism of Owens by putting it on Terry....but still the strategy amazes me.

Really, if Terry drops a pass, my first reaction is NOT to scream like a banshee "but Patrick dropped one too, nyah nyah nyah nah!"

They also lie like rugs.

Yesterday one of the apologists claimed I incessantly start Owens hating threads. Out of curiosity I went back and checked my 20 pages filled with thread titles.

I have started exactly ZERO Owens threads.

But ya know how the Big Lie strategy works...say something long and loud enough, and it becomes, uhh 'truth'.

I hear ya. If one was to check;) you would find that most apologists post turn into defending owens, even when the subject is of a different matter all together. Funny how that works.

The funniest part is that the second everything quiets down re TO, THEY'RE the ones to keep it up. They suffer from the same victim mentality the player does. The same paranoia.

Fascinating. :laugh2:

momentum is the most over hyped phrase around. the way our D was playing it did not matter. Anyone claiming otherwise is just lost.

Curious if you are watching the Texas Tech-Minnesota game? TT down 38-7 in the 3rd, and now it is 38-35. Do you think that Texas Tech has the momentum in the 4th quarter as Dick Vermeil says? Oh yeah, momentum is not a part of the game!

They have momentum but it looks like the momentum is about to turn. 29 secs remaining. TTech on the 50.

geez. The Red Raiders were down 7-38 at the 7:47 mark of the 3rd Quarter. They came back in a little more than 23 minutes of football to take this baby into OT. Outstanding!
