Jerry makes the final decision.
That has been said so many times by people in the organization, people who have been in the organization including Switzer, and people in the Landry organization, specifically Gill Brandt.
So J.J. Watt is an example. There was someone telling the GM this is the guy they need to draft. But someone else was more persuasive about the offensive line.
Now I have no issue with Tyron. But in the big scheme of things, and considering the offensive line play, and a big dose of after the fact, the team may have been better off taking Watt.
But the person who did the scouting put a bug in Jerry's ear and HE made the decision on Smith .
No one has ever disputed Jerry listens to all, then he makes the call.
Except a few that want to argue in favor of the now fifteen years of mediocrity since the *influence* of Jimmy Johnson and his talent eye left Valley Ranch.
* influence, meaning players Jimmy and his staff selected.
in the same dimension, his scouts and Coaches were against Aikman, Emmitt and Ware..glad Jerry had final say, arent you?.....and probably others...its organizational decisions.....
do you really think Belichick signed Moss without Krafts approval..?....or Coughlin didnt run signing Mart B by Mara?.....or that maybe Elway discussed manning with Bowlin prior to signing him?.......
