We shouldn't be shopping for a backup QB in the off season. We should be working on Romo's successor.

and while thsi is correct we will once agian make the back up qb position a position of sweating . Bad cycle the cowboys keep ignoring.

1. Sign Murray early. He was a difference maker on THIS TEAM!
2. Replace Weeden. This is the same Clown Posse who thought Brad Johnson was serviceable. This is Johnson, deuxième partie, la suite, encore une fois!

The team still would have had money for the Kracken I like"Wittle" Alex's idea of Shaun Hill.

If you are so myopic that you just can't get that each opportunity is a one of a kind, even for the same player, then you go after Chris Johnson if you insist Murray isn't the answer. You'd be wrong, of course. As we are seeing. But what this line needs, and quarterback needs is Murray blocking and getting the dirty yards after contact.

No they wouldn't. They had to redo Witten to fit Cassel.

Is that a joke? Lawrence along with Gregory is gonna be a very good tandem at defensive end for the next decade. Especially if they can manage to re-sign or extend Hardy. Garrapolo hasn't shown much even when he's gotten his opportunities in pre-season or in all the blowout wins when Brady has been able to rest in the fourth quarter of games.

Lawrence has had ONE good game. ONE.

Lawrence has had a very good season so far. Of course people like you only look at sacks. He's been good at containing the edge against the run. He's gotten up field a number of times and just missed. Gregory being out hurt him. No pressure from the other side which led to no interior pressure.

I don't know if I'd go as far as good. More like incomplete. He played well against Philly and NO. Was awful against Atl at times in the second half. Didn't play as much on Sunday. I'll be curious about the totem pole of the DL going forward.

So according to you he had one bad game and it's incomplete? Most would say Morris Claibourne has had a good year and he had a rough outing on Sunday against Edelman and the Patriots. Lawrence has had a good year. No the sacks aren't there yet, but that doesn't mean the guy has had an incomplete year. One bad half doesn't equate to that. He's been the most consistent defensive lineman on the team, but because people just look at sacks they'll say he sucks.

Not suggesting all knee jerk movements but 2 things the team didn't address make it 3 , in the off season
- backup QB ... Expected Vaughn should get better , but pre season showed didn't , weedon was never convincing . The team Mgmt and coaches were selling dope to fans or smoking something.
- return man ? If they can't trust Lucky why is on team ,
- WRs , they needed a better young WR to stretch field , Street was supposed to have improved , if what we see is improvement then I don't have words. TW is not all that when he doesn't hav Dez on the other side.

Incomplete because I can't judge him in games without either Hardy or Gregory. I'm not feeling him as a #1 but would like to see him with less attention.

He obviously didn't play well enough in those games to keep the job or to be the starter in Washington this season. Everyone has an opinion and it's basically pick your poison when it comes down to backup QBs they all have flaws that relegated them to backup duty. I feel Cassel is a better option than Weeden he's won 32 games as a starting QB. We'll just have to see how it goes with him and if we can stay afloat until Romo returns.

Obviously, but in those games, he was 87 of 121 (72%) for 1018 yards, 4 TDs and 3 INTs, not HoF numbers, but good enough to be a capable backup. He looked good running the Washington offense and was improving as his career progressed. I like him better than Weeden. (shrug)

I watch all the NFCE games, so I've seen McCoy play a lot more than Cassell, but I can't help but think Cassell will be better than Weeden. If Garrett and the coaches don't change things up some to help the players out, though, I'm not sure it matters.

I am not good enough to pounce. I just want to hear how all the critics think it should have been done and to evaluate the realistic possibilities of those opinions.

They can't, all they can do is give snarky comments and rag on everything and everyone if it / they don't fit their agenda. For whatever it is at the time. They have no realistic views, just go against what can't be done even if for practical reasons that any team may not be able to do.

Example....Like, if we sign player X he sucks, it sa bad move. If another team signs same player X it was a great move, why don't we do that.

McCoy's numbers looked pretty good but as most of us know stats don't tell the whole story. He was 1-3 in those starts and although he had a very good statistical game vs Indy where he passed for almost 400 yards and had a passer rating of 113.1 he had 4 fumbles. The following week vs St Louis he had a dreadful statistical game where he had 2 int's, a fumble and a passer rating of 54.0. In the 5 games McCoy played in 2014 he had 6 fumbles. If you look at Weeden's stats this season they look pretty good. He's completed 72.4% of his passes and has 2 TDs, 2 ints and a passer rating of 92.2. If you didn't watch the games you wouldn't think it's been bad but he obviously hasn't looked as good as the stats indicate.

There's no point in arguing about it you like McCoy that's fine but regardless what backup is playing for the Cowboys it may not get any better than we've seen so far with the current team they have. They have an inconsistent running game that isn't remotely close to what it was last season and that puts pressure on the QB. Their current group of WRs aren't getting open and the defense has struggled playing 4 quarters due to being on the field too much. Things aren't going to improve unless the running game improves and sustains for 4 quarters. The Cowboys have to start making more plays down the field to open the offense up. They have to start taking pressure off the defense that's been worn down in the second half all season.

We should have drafted a RB, and had a better backup QB... Other than that, I've got no real issues... I'm still optimistic... Once Romo gets back, we'll be flying high...

I remember the Get Rid Of Payton chant when he was our OC. He and Zimmer were dispised by most on this board.

You'll have to show me where folks on this board wanted to get rid of Payton. I've heard this mentioned by a poster or two and it's bogus.

Give me an hour. I'm in Albuquerque right now.

Well you didn't show up...that's alright as valley ranch has heard our cry with Cassel, CM, and Lal getting the potential starting nod. Next time give me a shout if you're not going to make it I wasted a perfectly good Ribeye!
