No on Murray.

Cassel earlier (before Buffalo even), Fitzpatrick, Hill, etc. It's difficult to not find someone better than Weeden. In fact, I would almost say Garrett should be fired for the simple fact that he allowed him on the team for not one, but TWO seasons. That s not putting your team in the best position for success (A Garrett specialty).

That brings us to the biggest things wrong with the way the team has been handled. They have taken a bad situation and made it worse. They did not work on ways to put this offense in the best position without Romo and Dez. Instead of trying to mix things up and try and be a little unpredictable, this staff has doubled down on stubbornness and has played right into the hands of the opponents defenses. Always running on 1st down against stacked defenses? Check. Always running from under center? Check. Always passing from shotgun? Check. Bringing in the defense even tighter by motioning receivers or TEs back towards the middle instead of spreading the defense out? Check. Running rollouts to the right and shrinking the field even more when the defense is already playing to that side because the QB is heavily right handed? Check. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Then there are clock management and other gaffes that directly result in points by the other team.

You picked McCoy because he beat the Cowboys last season. Yes or no? There's been several journeyman QBs play great against the Cowboys.

No, I was never a Weeden fan. McCoy impressed me several times, and he was available.

Who gives a crap what Cleveland did? The only reason they played him over McCoy was because they drafted him in the first round. It certainly wasn't because he'd demonstrated that he was better.

Not sure where McCoy impressed you other than against the Cowboys or some games he had at UT. He was available because he's not very good he's playing for his 3rd team in 6 years. Cleveland drafted Weeden in the first round because McCoy wasn't getting it done. They wouldn't have invested a first round pick on a 28 year old QB if they were happy with what they saw in McCoy. After Cleveland dumped McCoy he only lasted one season in SF. I wouldn't touch any QB that flames out in Cleveland none of them ever pan out anywhere else. Once the Browns get through with a QB they're done.

I think it is time to tear down Jerry World and start completely over. Get a new building this one is cursed, get rid of the entire regime, place all players who have failed to live up to expectations on suspended without pay status for letting the team and fan base down. Bring in every blue chip FA off the street, wal-mart, grocery store, and the CFL and start over during the bye week. I am positive this approach will work. It's the only thing that makes sense at this point.

I miss Texas Stadium.

He had great games against Tennessee and Indy last year and played fairly well against St. Louis too. Throw in Dallas, and he was pretty good in his four starts (injured in the first series of start #5).

Look, I'm not saying McCoy is Tony Romo, or even a long-term starter, but I've seen him play well and thought during the off-season that he'd make a pretty decent backup. That's all. Sue me.

He obviously didn't play well enough in those games to keep the job or to be the starter in Washington this season. Everyone has an opinion and it's basically pick your poison when it comes down to backup QBs they all have flaws that relegated them to backup duty. I feel Cassel is a better option than Weeden he's won 32 games as a starting QB. We'll just have to see how it goes with him and if we can stay afloat until Romo returns.

Sorry... Was always under the impression that we should just let the filters work rather than trying to use some replacement word that doesn't mask the true intended word like I see some do on here.

who should have been our backup QB.

- Shaun Hill
- Matt Schuab
- Colt McCoy

These were all better options than Weeden. They're not good QBs, they're okay but they certainly would have been better than Weeden and they were all FA from what I remember.

Who should have been our head coach?

- I've not bailed on Garrett.

Should we have paid Murray what he got from Phillie?

- Nope. I have no issue with the fact that they didn't give Murray a ton of money. Would it be nice to have him? Of course. But no. Don't break the bank for a RB whose prone to injury and had his only really good year (albeit a great one) in a contract season.

What could we have done to make losing Romo and Bryant insignificant , or at least less painful?

- Better play at the back up QB spot would have made that less painful. This team could very easily be 4-1 with a decent back up QB playing the last 3 weeks.

Please be realistic. Trading for AP and having Showers as the backup are pipe dreams. Please give some valid, realistic options. Please keep salary cap in mind

This
Also don't forget Ryan Fitzpatrick
Heck even Vick would have bee an upgrade over Weeden

Not getting a good back up QB
Not having a good FS
Not having a PR/KR

These are all glaring deficiencies that people were pointing out as soon as last season ended

NONE of this is hindsight

Just joking...I do it too from time to time (like last game), hence, asterisks. I rely on the filters too. It's all good. :)

Well it's hard to fix every weakness in one offseason. Would you have rather them not draft Gregory and sign Hardy? They've put together a line that will be one of the best in the league when Gregory gets back.

Ditto.

I would only add that I really wanted to tag Murray instead of Bryant and worked out a deal with Bryant prior to having to tag him then let Murray go this offseason if he fell off in performance or was still demanding crazy money.

Stuck to our draft board and taken Manziel over Martin.

Instead of using two draft picks on Lawrence, we could have saved them both, and used our 2nd rounder on Garrapolo. At least he gives us a future.

We shouldn't be shopping for a backup QB in the off season. We should be working on Romo's successor.

Is that a joke? Lawrence along with Gregory is gonna be a very good tandem at defensive end for the next decade. Especially if they can manage to re-sign or extend Hardy. Garrapolo hasn't shown much even when he's gotten his opportunities in pre-season or in all the blowout wins when Brady has been able to rest in the fourth quarter of games.
