Hey all:
New here. Did the right thing w/ a first post in the intro forum.
Want to chime in on your/our backup QB situation....and who should be. Weeden...All the arm in the world, no accuracy past 20 yds, and no touch under it. The reason he kicked butt at OSU was because of his receivers. The reason he failed in Cleveland was no receivers, no running game, and a large load of crap in his pants from having no oline. Have already seen several times nearly give cowboy receivers concussions from impact w/ the facemask after blasting through their hands and overthrow wide open guys down field.
Mccoy was affected only by the Onile, running game and receivers issue in Cleveland. In his rookie year where he was never supposed to start, he lead the league in dropped passes...yep hit them in the hands and dropped them like hot rocks. That, only when he wasnt getting hammered in the backfield in less than 2 seconds. Second year saw him get a new HC, OC and playbook w/ no improvement in RB,WR,TE,Oline. Year 3 they draft Weeden thinking that a 300wm can overcome all other deficiencies on offense. On to SF...new HC,OC,playbook. Not gonna beat out a a guy w/ multiple years in the same playbook, and a 300wm on his shoulder. Let go because there is a miss conception that you have to have a 300wm on your shoulder to make it in this league. On to Washington...New HC,OC,Playbook, No QB coach!! Owner would not allow anyone else but RGIII to start unless he gets physically broken..Ding. Next man up...Cousins probably the right decision at the time...untill Tennessee. Mccoy comes in w/ NO practice w/ the first team offense and wins the game. Next week Dallas. After 1 week of practice w/ the first team and all the mental turmoil of your first start being a monday night game. Does enough to get it done w/ a good defensive performance, a rungame and OLine that did their part. The stats he put up against the colts are what you can expect from him when the OLine RB's and Wr's are working as hard as he does. All indications in 2015 camp was that he was outperforming both RGIII and Cousins. I think the preseason also proved it. He is actually a perfect backup for Tony. He is mobile, has great pocket awareness. Makes good decisions on the run. Can protect himself on the run. I think it is highly likely that the skins could possibly be undefeated this season if they had started Mccoy. If Mccoy was your backup in his second year in the playbook learning from Tony, our boys might still be undefeated this year.
Apologize for being long winded.
