I think every team should try to use 1 roster spot from some alternate league player
Or not and let the great Will McClay cull more talent like Turpin and Aubrey.

I did not pay very much attention to the league, so the only real question is did he play on STs in that league.

How did you do when you made it to the NFL? Got any film?
so what were your stats in the NFL?
The only team that had any interest was the Browns; signed him several times to the practice squad but never activated him
So tell me why anyone should think this guy is anything

I put him at the level of a AAA MiLB player. Looking at prospects as unchanging states will leave you in the wrong place.
Turpin & Aubrey at least show that it's possible to find a guy. Harvey probably doesn't pan out as well as them but if he's serviceable.

I don't have any, that's why I don't criticize or make fun of those that do.
HE'S A CAMP BODY, BUT AT LEAST HE HAS A CHANCE!!!

So let me get this straight. You’re whining about the Cowboys trying to improve their team? Seriously?

I'm finally convinced this FO is all in.

If they can convince Jeff Heath to come down from ruling Heaven to play again then the SB is ours.
Dude why did you say that? I was like "Jeff Heath died??" Thank you, Google. Sheesh.

He's fine. It's a low-risk, very-low cost signing of a player from a developmental league. Exactly the type of signing teams should be making around this time of year.

The problem for many is the team absolutely refuses to participate in unrestricted free agency, so it prompts a lot of the responses you are seeing here.

The Jones, mainly Stephen, has a very stubborn and narrow approach to teambuilding and so far it has proven fruitless. Until that changes, we are going to see this type of response from a huge chunk of the fan base.

I am sorry Jerry has done this too you ....... You deserve better as a loyal fan.
Nah, not really. I understand you can't win it all every time. Much has to go right at the same time. This team has been so incomplete in recent years, yet they have been able to overachieve thanks to a few key players. The teams that have gone further in the playoffs the past 3 years actually have more complete teams. Just look at their rosters and coaches. It's not hard to understand what to realistically expect from an incomplete Cowboys team.

The problem with bottom of the roster and practice squad players is they never get on the field for games. At least in the USFL, the player gets to play, and maybe develop. Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner is a great example of a guy who was able to develop in the NFL Europe league and Arena League in the 90's, getting to start full time. This was after getting cut by the Packers when he signed as an undrafted free agent in 1994. The famous story about him stocking groceries when he got a call from the Rams is legendary. The next thing you know, he wins the NFL MVP and the Super Bowl as a first year starting QB for the Rams in the 1999 season, and goes on to a HOF career.

Getting playing time can help develop a player more than sitting on the bench and getting a few practice snaps during the week on an NFL practice squad. The NFL really needs to get a developmental league - as shown by how impactful both Turpin and Aubrey have been after spending time in another league actually playing.

What we do know about Harvey is that he led the USFL in tackles and was considered the best linebacker in the league this past season. That is worth a look, no matter how snide and cynical fans want to be about the front office.

Another player who was undrafted, and bounced around for a while is LB/DE James Harrison, who went undrafted in 2002, and then bounced around the NFL on the PS of the Steelers and Ravens in the early 2000's. Then he went to play for the Rhein Fire in Germany. In 2008, he was back on the Steelers, winning NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors, became a 4x All-Pro and 5x Pro Bowl player, and is now in the Steelers Hall of Honor. And who can forget his 100 yard interception return at the end of the first half in Super Bowl XLIII against the Kurt Warner led Cardinals? Without that play, the Steelers lose. Instead, Harrison became a 2x Super Bowl Champion.

We can be cynical and as snide as we want to be, and yes, it is a long-shot for a player who has a slow career start to turn into a game changing player. But I'm willing to have an open mind and give Harvey a chance before passing judgment.

so let me get this straight. YOU think that this guy is a major effort? After not spending a lousy $2 million to keep Hankins you latch onto this guy as the Front Office doing its job.
Is that right?

UFL not USFL which was a totally different time and league and much higher quallity
So if you cannot even get that right....
This guy spent three years with the browns on their practice squad AND WAS NEVER ACTIVATED.
So do not make me laugh and talk about what a unpolished gem he is
