All22 Review: Collins vs Leary

Oh, and why is Tyron Smith trying to cut block that defensive lineman? He could have driven him into the stands and Randle would still be running.

That is an option but the goal in an zone scheme is to get your head across your man. So he did exactly what he was taught to do.

That's a tough block btw.

This all 22review is not a true review. It just highlights learys bad plays and successful collins plays

Totally disagree. Dude bounces it out way left. Should have went behind leary

He should have but that is a tough read to make and there was no certainty that Tyron would get his guy blocked.

So he still got a positive play down field.

Frederick and Free need to do a better job on this play and we aren't debating the cutback that he got positive yards on.

Certainly yes we could always do better blocking but at least they stood their guys up. Randle always bounces it outside, like he's scared to go in the middle

We do a lot of zone runs so looking to get outside is kinda the point.

just something from my day yesterday. i was in the room with someone talking to collins yesterday and the conversation was NOTHING about football. so i was just listening and giving the person a hard time (i know her) and finally she just says "hold on" and hands me her phone.

so there i am. on the phone with L.

not many times to words go "um...i could use you now" but all i could get out was the standard "go kick some giant *** man" and so on but he was very cool, very polite and unless he's lying to me - pretty damn pumped about this opportunity.

so - expect to see a few pancakes in the game courtesy of L. we asked for it, he said he'll deliver.

and yes i got a hard time for not having something more clever to say but hey - it was still cool and since i can dish it out, i gotta take it too.

Should've asked him to do a little fist pump for the Zone!

I'm going to disagree. The gif isn't the best quality but the play looks sealed and the reach block cuts down the defender that could bust the play from the backside pursuit along the LOS.

If Randle follows the zone blocking to the outside and Beasley does just enough to occupy the DB, Collins was already at the second level and the rest of the DL was turned inside and sealed off.

His cut back was a lack of vision/discipline.

The issue with going outside is the defender that Free is blocking. That defender is between Free and the sideline. If Randle goes outside that defender only needs to take a couple of steps at an angle into the backfield and towards the sidelines to cut off Randle's path. Free has no leverage on the block in that direction and can't block him in the back. If it was Tyron blocking that defender then he might be able to delay him from disengaging from the block but with Free blocking him that won't happen. It seems more obvious on the All-22 view than it does on the end zone camera view used for the Gif.

There is a high probability that Randle gets yelled at by the coaches if he tries to go outside and it fails.

It depends on what you call "outside". The Cowboys like to run just off tackle which still has the RB primarily going down the field with minimal lateral movement. They don't run much to the far outside (sidelines) which requires the RB to go a significant distance laterally.

Yeah I would consider anything outside of the tackle box the outside.

No. He should've went to the left of Fred then diagonal right. Long gain.

Because it's so easy to shift your momentum to the opposite direction after already cutting back once, and that too, avoiding the Falcons lineman that is diving at his legs after engaging with Smith...

And once again, notice who makes the tackle.. A DB who had to come flying in...
