The new version of MJD is in this draft and can be had in rounds 4 or 5, goes by Jerick McKinnon

MJD is proven though. He had one bad year in Jacksonville, a few bucks under 1k. Im just looking at Jacksonville line and our line, night and day. Also MJD would be a great insurance policy.

I will just dismiss that as fluff thrown at Schefter.

If we invited both of these players to Dallas.

And lowballed them?

I cannot even begin to comment further.

The guys on KIRO 710 were playing an interview clip (at 17:00 today) with the one and only Terry Blount.

He said that Jared Allen came here to Seattle on Sunday then went home. He didn't visit anywhere else. According to wise Terry, Seattle are likely to sign Allen and it should be announced by Wednesday (03/19/14)

Grab a nearby shaker of salt and believe if you will...

All kinds of hearsay...I swear we are all like junkies looking for the next fix with this FA/Draft business!:D

What do the Cowboys do when they want to cut Carr after next season, but can't because of the restructuring?

They bite the bullet and make him a June 1st cut. It will actually save 5m in 2015 and leave a 7-8m dead money hit in 2016. But it saves 5m this year, which can be used to get better or roll-overed if they can't sign anyone.

BTW- I don't think he should be cut, this year or next.

They won't cut Carr this year; I was talking about after the 2014 season. At some point, Dallas needs to stop maxing out their credit cards and bite the bullet(s) with their bad contracts.

Carr is currently the 2nd highest paid CB in the league. He was very below-average in 2013, and I suspect that this will be his last year in Dallas.

Who cares about Jermichael Finley all we care about is Allen. So is Allen out of Dallas or Seattle? Reliable source or fan chatter?

MJD is worn down and beat, better off taking a rookie with fresh legs, i'd love to see them get Seastrunk in the middle rounds.

Interesting idea. Although, reports are that they are having separate dinners. Melton with Rod and Allen with officials. That's a good idea though, get them together. Texas boys, DL, why not?

I agree. I'd rather see us see what we have and stay young. That's what we did with the OL and it started to finally pay off.

I'd rather see a combination of both. This draft is pretty deep, but the dline quality isn't high end, so not sure how much they can realistiically add via the draft. That's not to say they will not spend a pick or two in order to shore up the front four, but you need some vets for the young guys to lean on.

I'd rather sign Melton and wait on Spencer. I do NOT want to restructure Carr or Witten.

Jerry is pretty predictable given that he has been wildly successful running the Cowboys like a business. He needs to improve his product now so that is what I think he will do. (To drop under .500 after three 8-8 seasons would be big trouble.) Many of us would like to see a long-term approach, but I wouldn't expect Jerry to change much at the age of 71. I thought he was only going after Melton until finding Jared Allen was still available and coming to town. I just don't think Jerry will be able to pass him up if there is any way he can squeeze him in financially. We'll find out soon enough.

Trying to get better is a bad thing?

Or did my reading skills fail me?

No, not at all, we have to get better, and I would love to have Melton and Allen. We need them, or players like them, but there are good arguments for drafting replacements for Hatcher and Ware instead of signing two free agents, especially when one considers how truly awful our defense was last year WITH Hatcher and Ware. I was just pointing out what I think Jerry will do.
