If I'm not mistaken, the Eagles loss to the Seahawks allows the Cowboys to lose to Miami. Dallas needs the Eagles to lose another game whether we beat the Dolphins or not.

If the Eagles drop one to the Giants, and Dallas loses to Miami, Dallas wins the division. But in this scenario, if the Eagles lose to the Cardinals, they still win the division.

If the Giants can steal one it opens a ton of possibilities.

Why it’s a sports entertainment. My disappointment about the Buffalo game was that we didn’t show up and it was a waste of 3 hours. For the most part the Cowboys have been a joy to watch the last 3 years. The loses to 49ers in the playoffs was heartbreaking but at least the Cowboys showed up and played their best. Made the games entertaining.
You're just happy they had fun, aren’t ya?

If...maybe...if

Not the way to enter the playoffs. Especially considering the Cowboys can't take care of their own business.
You really think that these coaches haven't been projecting towards a confrontation with a strong running team such as San Francisco? Really think they are that stupid enough to not have alternatives in place. Sometimes in a single game an aspect just fails...sorry, but this is still the NFL. They move on...as does this fan.

Things are still wide open and are only behind the 49'ers in the NFC...only.

Still on line with Detroit and Washington in the NFC. Odds against a recently losing team such as Miami, is still very strong and the Cowboys need to meet their own talent levels...and that is all.

Listen, wise guy, you are NOT the only fan with standards and apply those....you are the one who only vents himself with insult. Now run along and expect a bucket of coal for Christmas.

Nothing like getting hyped up for a game only for the team to come out and lay an egg. Just show up and go thru the motions. Like they just don't care.

It probably will be something they think about in the back of their minds in a game against tough opponents. They will think they are not supposed to win. The Bills game looked like they gave up once they got behind.

Very clearly, they haven't. The Bills game couldn't hardly have been any bigger failure.

There was great harm done. Their confidence going into the playoffs are at an all time low as are most fans. Could have been competing for a #2 seed after last night and that's pretty much gone too. Same old Cowboys.

the players haven't stated their confidence is gone and fans ranting on a webboard/X stating they know we will lose out now is hardly representative of the entire fan base

Ever exagerate to complain about an isolated failure game...? I'll answer this for YOU, YES.

There comes a point when all isn't a fool's gold in the NFL. Maybe fan's should more than expect to always have a mental crutch to root from.

That was a single game...they won't do that twice. Even with all the errors, the Cowboys lost by 21.

I tell YOU upfront, I'm not ashamed...

Here are the current records:

AFC

Ravens 11-3
Dolphins 10-4
Chiefs 9-5
Browns 9-5

Teams w/ 8-6
Buffalo
Bengals
Jaguars
Colts
Texans

NFC

49'ers 11-3
Dallas 10-4
Eagles 10-4
Detroit 10-4

Ravens and 49'ers the only teams in the NFL with a better record. +1

The Dolphins, Eagles, and Lions have equal records at 10-4.

It takes a poor current fan to see less than real potential here. Make one's own excuses for not taking value in their current status. This team is not hand cuffed to past failure as are the fans here and now.

Three games really isn't much of a hurdle to enter the playoffs and with real strength...no matter how many no they can't that bellow out.

Cry on one's own time then...Merry Christmas. The Cowboys are still fine!!!!!:starspin:

Not hardly, this group is in it's third straight year they are carrying in their guts towards the playoffs. This is a team building element and not a play toy.

The players aren't going to say it but if getting blown out by a playoff contender on the road doesn't bother them knowing that they have to go on the road in the playoffs then they are kidding themselves.

As far as fans. Just once I wish someone on here would tell me I told you so but it never happens. For the most part they disappear after the Cowboys lose another playoff game in some weird fashion.

Their play says other wise and jerry said the weather was the issue. :D These guys are not like the players of old. Getting paid is their main priority. shrugs.

Once again, for clarity, I'm not happy with the loss. Obviously, I want us winning. Yes, the loss was painful. However, that doesn't mean our season is over. It's the NFL, and losing happens. Sometimes, things don't go your way in a game. The game against the Bills for us was Murphy's Law in action. Anything that could've gone wrong went wrong.

However, it's also true we were playing a team that was fighting for survival. Do I think the players egos took a hit? Yes. Do I think they've lost confidence? No. I expect them to respond strongly against Miami. As I stated in my OP, given the Eagles loss, I expect the team to see the gift of what Seattle did and use it as a way to say, "Sure, we go blown out, but the division race is very much alive." At least for the division race, the team has a lot to play for, and I expect that they're aware that, if we want any chance still at the division that we have to win every one of our remaining games. If we can somehow snag the 2 seed, that's two home games (assuming we win both) in the playoffs before the NFCC. That's a chance to rebuild momentum. That's the way the team has to look at this current situation. Not feel sorry for themselves or give up. Rather, they need to see that the 2 seed is still in play.

I know a lot of us are sore after our loss to Buffalo. However, almost no harm was done. The Eagles loss to the Seahawks last night means that if we can win the remainder of our games, and, if Tommy DeVito is playing and can lead the Giants to beating Philly at least once, we might be back in the division race. Somehow, the Giants are still in contention for a playoff spot (https://www.foxsports.com/articles/nfl/2023-24-new-york-giants-odds-odds-to-win-super-bowl-nfl-playoffs-division#:~:text=The Giants have a 0.2,of earning a playoff spot.), albeit not very high. We were probably going to need the Giants to win one against Philly regardless of how the game against the Bills finished in case we dropped one. Let's face it, starting with the start of the Cowboys win streak, we were asking the Cowboys to win 9 consecutive games and still need a bit of help. Naturally, this is the NFL, and winning 9 games in a row is especially difficult.

If the Cowboys can beat the Dolphins, who knows? Maybe the Cowboys can start another winning streak? Especially with the Lions (as good as they are) at home, where we dominate this season, and the Commanders at the end of the season, I don't think this season is over yet. Especially since Philly seems to be floundering a bit. So, as bad as the loss to the Bills was, this division race is far from over.
I hear you brother, but we knew what was at stake and crapped the bed. This team has to beat great teams consistently if they want to compete for a title. They just haven't done that.

We are loaded with talent and have good coaching, BUT winning in the playoffs typically takes physical football. Running and defending the run are too important to dismiss the way we have.

I have hope nonetheless, but I'm a sick man.

If you were a player on this team how would you feel after such a beatdown? Especially after you got whipped the same way by another good team (49ers).

And then do you think those believes are good to have for a team that is right before the playoffs ?

Id feel down obviously, but there's also three more regular season games and the playoffs coming. I wouldn't want to let the Bills game spoil what's been a great season overall.
