Irvin was a body catcher too when need be. Irvin also explains that for a lot of throws especially when a WR is about to get hit that it is the better and safer way to catch the ball and insure that the catch is made and held. I don't even recall TWill dropping too many passes too, so I never understood all the crap he takes. Video is still pretty funny.

The problem is that because he doesn't stretch out for passes he doesn't high point balls which is a huge need for outside receivers. It severely limit his catch radius.

SMH at a pro athlete catching a ball like that, I don't care what sport you play. Little leaguers look better :(

Disagree

I think it is nitpicking. He is our number two receiver. He was drafted to be a number 2. Dez went down and TWill never stepped up to be a number 1 simply because he is strictly a 2 and that is ok with me. Actually one could argue that he has made some huge plays at BIG moments in a ball game. Detroit, Seattle, Washington, Texans just off the top of my head. I am very happy with him and I think people just love to always find the weakest link on this offense so he and Doug will get **** this year which they shouldn't.

Neither of those are him high pointing the ball. Neither was even over his head. He jumps to catch the ball the only problem is he is breaking stride to body catch it. Anyway this is high pointing the ball:

or this

He has made some plays sure. He has also disappeared from the offense for 6+ game stretches the last two years when you need consistency. Weeden and Cassell would throw outside. It was over the middle they were scared to throw. He was the primary receiver for over a dozen games. 800 yards and 3 TDs isn't going to cut it.

It's been three years and he has made almost no progress high pointing balls and he is easy to gameplan out of games. I want to two WR that can consistently beat single coverage outside and he does not meet that description. That is for a WR2. WR1 needs to be a threat to double teams as well. Thank reality for Dez.

He is in a competition with Doug Free for worst player on offense. Nitpicking? In a game of inches you should always seek to improve your weakest link.

There are body catchers and there are body catcher critics and there are body catcher whiners. However, I'll take the big plays he has shown he can make.
He and Butler will compete for who they will keep, as both will be FA's, if they keep either.
Then the critics can move on to their next victim or still whine about the same.

Let me chime in. Does it really matter how he catches the ball. Has long as he catches it. A poster said look at last year. What does that have to do with him catching the ball. Cole had a bad year. Heck all of our receivers had a bad year. For some reason I just can't blame Williams for that. They can't catch what is not thrown in their vicinity.

The point is he catches the ball. He is 54th in drops last year. He had 4 drops in 16 games last year compared to Dez's 5 in 9 games. And please no I am not comparing him to Dez.

I just don't understand why it's such a problem with all these couch NFL players. If Michael Ivin says it's ok, then to h**l with what any professional, Hall of Fame internet poster has to say.

Read @FuzzyLumpkins post earlier in the thread. Terrance makes it harder on QBs with the small catch radius, and for QBs who he doesn't have a rapport with, he becomes a non factor and disappears in games.
