I don't know. I think part of that was just players not wanting to air locker room stuff because there were other reports that some players thought Hurts wasn't a great leader and too distant at times.I don’t know about during the week… All of his teammates say he’s not the same behind closed doors as what the world sees. They all defend his leadership and style. I think he’s got his guard up when he talks to the media.… That’s why he has that image. I never once heard that he was a bad leader in the locker room. Quite the opposite actually.
I will never doubt Hurts when it comes to work ethic and leadership… I still have my own questions about what his ceilings are as a QB on the field.
And we all saw how he acted during games. It's weird that a guy who apparently is so chummy and a great leader inside the locker room is so distant on the sidelines, rarely interacting with teammates, getting them fired up, etc. The pictures of him just sitting on the bench by himself were numerous to count. One of the local Philly guys made a point last year to contrast Dak, when he was celebrating Bland's attempt to break the int for TD record to Hurts. Dak leapt off the bench and ran down the sidelines with Bland hoping for the TD and the beat guy made the point if that had been Hurts, he wouldn't have moved from the bench.
