Am I the only one still upset over the Ware release?

It was time to move on. Can't hold on to every star forever. Relish the things he's done and look forward to the future. It's time to make moves for the future and not but it in the hands of one player . Ware could get 1 or 20 sacks for Denver this year but Jerry did what was best. Ware could've stayed but chose not to.

He could have stayed. Jerry treated him right before he had to. Ware chose to leave for a little more money. I respect what Ware did for this team and I understand getting more money. But it seemed like a lot of the recently let go Cowboys cared more about their contracts and less about winning. Spencer, Ratliff, Hatcher and Ware could all still be here. They were all treated fairly and they all bailed(Spencer got hurt, but was going to leave).

I wish him success personally, but I don't hope he gets a ring. He had a chance to that here and couldn't get it done.

Yep. I could care less what he does or doesn't do in Denver... Unless of course I have Denver's defense in fantasy football.

Ware could have had a 'down' year this year, had 10 sacks and fans would have chastised Jerry and the front office for paying a guy a million dollars per sack.

It's hard to hold on to your top talent especially when you have not been fiscally responsible previously. The only way to do undo your financial restraints is to actually practice them which we wisely did for a change.

Ware was a great Cowboy. Let somebody else use 10% of their cap on a player who is a shadow of himself. Denver got dominated in trenches both sides of the ball in the SB and are only competitive in a weak AFC. He hasnt been the same player since the neck issues started.

It's sad that dware is gone I wish we could've actually come to some kind of agreement, but it seems that Dallas was ready to move on. I do not want to see him win a ring in Denver sorry I'm selfish like that.

That's a valid point about the neck issue.

He's talked about the elbow problem and getting that fixed, but the neck issue sounds like potential disk problem.

I'm not upset about cutting him. This needed to be done. What people should be upset about is his prime being wasted here without enough surrounding support to field a solid D unit year in and year out to go along with supporting our QB. Especially the last 2-3 years. 100 + sacks wasted. That's what you should be upset about.

Guys. It's not like he still can't sign a one-day contract to retire as a Cowboy. Which is more than likely than not going to happen anyway. I wish him the best in Denver, but I would prefer we get a ring without him than him getting a ring with Denver.

I wish he could have finished his career here, but reality is your a fan of the team and not one player. It busted me up bad when Emmitt left but I realized it was best for the team. This situation is the same for me. I wish him well and hope he gets a ring.

I had hoped for better from Ware given the situation.

The Cowboys were backed into a corner. He was no longer a 20+ sack player and you only pay that sort of money if you are.

He could have reduced his expectations like we have as a franchise and fans of his.

But he wanted more.

So....

Really, a 20+ sack player.....last time I checked only one guy a year gets 20+ sacks......and Ware had 19.5 in 2011 and 11.5 in 2012 missing 3 games. I still think it was injuries more than decline and fact is the Broncos paid him more than what we were going to be paying him had he stayed. He is still a baller and can't wait to see him with 13+ sacks next season.

If this is the case for Ware then it should also be the case for Romo and Witten. So go ahead and trade Romo for a first rounder......and don't tell me he wouldn't net a first rounder because as long as his back checks out ok all of these teams would be interested.

One more thing about this statement..........just think how well this defense did in the Wade Phillips era, and how it has been even below average in the Rob Ryan era. Well, during both times Ware was a consistent sack leader and great defensive end year in and year out, the good and the below average.
Now, think back to last season. Ware was injured big time and slowed big time by the injuries and we finished with the WORST DEFENSE in franchise history. The absolute WORST defense. If that doesn't show you how much he means to this team what will. And to say something so stupid like "but we haven't won anything with him" is just idiotic.
