Video: Amari comments on McCarthy

Amari cooper was being interviewed by the radio station 105.3. They asked him if this was the best team he’s ever played on and he response was “absolutely, by far actually.”

Broaddus asked him why he felt this way about the team. He mentioned the talented players and depth that we have. My ears perked up when I heard his comments on coaching.

His response: “Coaching for sure. Like with McCarthy one of the things I noticed about him early, everything he does is about winning. He’s not big on the politics, everything he does goes towards winning and that is something I really respect.”

To me this is huge. I don’t care what skip and Shannon, or the media or what some bitter jaded posters on Cowboyszone have to say about McCarthy, hearing a player like Amari give a raving review about the big guy is music to my ears. Examples I can think of are Collins not getting his job back as soon as his suspension was over. Conner Williams getting benched and then getting it back after 4 games of trying out McGovern. Cutting Jaylon smith and his albatross of a contract. McCarthy is looking for winners, not playing the politics game. This team has potential to be special and I love it!

LOL................yep, he is no puppet. He plays the guys that help him win. He gets rid of losers like Jaylon no matter what salary or what the owner wants.

Gives half the carries to Pollard because he is the better back.

that's an odd take. you know he played for bama right? lol. he's an honest guy, he literally just ruffled feathers being honest about the offense and needing to be more involved. he went out of his way to highlight what he likes about the coach. his comments mean a lot imo

Yes, I know. lol. The question was asked about his pro career.
Second, I'm not questioning his honesty. I just saying it doesn't really tell me much. He's been on the Raiders, whom reports tell us he hated and the Cowboys. So he believes an organization that wanted is better than one who didn't want him.
Okay? And what new revelation did we learn?
That's all I'm saying.
I found his comments about the offense and what's wrong with it much more informative than these comments. But this is my opinion. I'm not requiring anyone to accept it.
Shrug.

and all that wont mean JACK SQUAT if we get bounced in 1st or 2nd round of playoffs. Everything he said is 100% subjective. Only thing that matters is a Super Bowl.... when he wins one in Dallas, then I will love him. Until then, who cares.

okay

As an aside.

Does this mean he's a Cowboy? How the hell did we pull this off?

HAHA to all you Gregory lovers.

lol... yea, because our defense leads the nfl in turnovers. give me a break. How hard is it to win when the defense hands you the ball 4 or 5 times a game and also scores a TD?

You think we win in Washington this year if the defense didnt hand the offense the ball like 23 times? Its not complicated.

what kind of an idiotic response is this? A team is comprised of offense defense and special teams. Are we supposed to be apologizing that our defense is playing well after all these years of being bad? This is a weird position to take but okay do you.

Coop is such a quiet/classy soul. Great player. Sure beats this mess from the past.

That's the cold truth of the matter. Look at Danny White's legacy, he took this team to three straight NFCC games but because the team lost all three, Danny gets no respect from the majority of fans. All that matters is getting to the Super Bowl.

you dont pay attention...... get a clue what is being discussed and put it in context, then come back and see me.

I would be very curious about what Coop meant when he used the term “politics”. I can imagine he was referring to the whole Jones circus but not sure. Good to know he sees Big Mac as putting winning first.

I’m guessing by “politics” he meant Ginger Boy playing his favorites and not the best players. Like playing Witten all those snaps past his prime.

Probably romo, witten, ware, dez.

Remember Daks rookie year when we forced Dez the ball after he returned from like eight games from an injury? Our offense went downhill quick.

It was a big country club with Jason garrett. Nobody respected him. And we never won anything. No competition for jobs, players got their jobs back as soon as they returned from injuries. The company line was repeated by those same for every single year. I'm glad they're gone.

oh. thought you were referring to his comments about McCarthy since that was the thread title.

carry on

I think any HC has to deal with the family, politics, when they coach the Cowboys. It is the most unusual setup in all pro sports

The best way to do that is by winning and not giving them a reason to get involved or make their presence too known to the players.

The chain of command has always been a ? with this franchise to the point that Parcells demanded control.

McCarthy is a smart guy. He realizes what floats Booger’s boat and he gives unto Caesar what is Caesar’s. He focuses his energy on the team. And the team realizes that.

I can’t resist- All Jimmy J did was win and what happened then is history. It doesn’t matter whether we win or lose the Jones’ will always be lurking…
