Enough with the Dak issue ...how much more do we need to see jeez the guy STINKS and no coach no Wr are going to make him a quality QB....problem here is Jerry is all in on Dak so lets go watch some baseball at this point..the misery and waste will continue till "Dak" do us apart I guess....

Look here. I've said this before. I'm not against getting a new QB if a good one is available next draft. The problem is, I don't see any QBs that fit our offence this draft. Yes, Herbert's a decent option, but 1. I don't see us getting him, especially if we finish outside the top 5, and 2. He's looking a bit shaky to me lately. Oh, and 3. I don't reckon that he fits Garrett's style at all. Then again, neither does Dak. As for Lock, I'm not all that sure of him, but maybe he'll surprise me. I look for Denver to get him though. He seems like the sort of chap that the Broncos would draft, and he's not a bad QB I suppose. So, who's left in this draft after that that are MUST haves in the 1st? The class I'm really keen on is the 2020 draft. Tua is the chap I really want that draft, but I think we're going to be really pleased at the picks available in 2020 for QB. That's when I think we make the move to switch QBs, especially if we have a new coach. Given that this should likely be the last coaching change for Jerry, I presume that he'll try to get the best one that he can find.

He is basically FREE for this year.......400k

that is crazy

we can cut DThompson and get the 4th round Comp back

I actually don't know if that's true. If we can, that'd be great. Any link to confirm that though? I think it's true, but I don't know for sure.

many here have proven they will defend this front office no matter what.

just as there are some here who hate everything the front office does.

Unfortunately for the Apologists, the Truthers have been right a whole lot more.

This is also the team that in one off-season, spent a 1st and a 2nd (Claiborne) and significant cap room (Carr) on two man corners, only to switch to a zone-heavy scheme a year later. There is no plan. This Front Office overreacts and then dedicates significant time to excuses and rationalization.

Well said!

I could see that as well. However, the fanbase was, as I recall, LIVID at the 9-7 (practically 8-8 if not for the fact that Philly had nothing to play for the last game) last season. I think that Jerry must realise that the fanbase isn't all that keen on going 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7 unless it means playoffs. We were screaming bloody murder after the 3rd 8-8 in 2013 as well, so surely Stephen has to remember that (I'd say Jerry, but he's probably drunk that memory away, hasn't he?). So, my logic is that it's the former of what you said. Either we make the playoffs, or the Garrett nightmare HAS to finally be over. We KNOW Garrett's an 8-8 chap. He's average. We don't want average. We want great, but I'd take at least consistently better than average at this point.

That's where we differ, I guess. I just don't think that 9-7 will rustle any jimmies. 4-12, however, changes will have to be made. But 9-7 gets another two years of trying to make conditions perfect for Garrett/Dak to succeed.

This years poor draft class forced our hand a bit but i can see why we pulled the trigger.

A few problems with that logic.

The pick is very likely to be higher than 25.

We weren't guaranteed to take a WR. This draft is incredibly deep at defensive line, impactful defensive linemen too.

And if you're asking me if I want Amari Cooper, at 24, for a season and a half OR N'Keal Harry at age 21 for 5 seasons, give me N'Keal all day long.

They didn't have to go WR in the first. Could've went WR in the 2nd or even in FA and left their options open. I don't think Cooper is worth the 5 year rookie deal the Cowboys would've got with any player at any position. Specially a safety, maybe an interior Dlineman.. or even QB? etc. Stupidazz move as usual from a clueless front office.

Well, keep in mind, we are talking about Gruden, and he does like experienced players. Have a look at the Raiders roster: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oakland_Raiders#Current_roster

That's not exactly a great LB group. Even a half-healthy Lee is miles better than that group. If a first is too high, then I'd see if they'd go for a 2nd. Then, if we do get a 4th for parting ways with Thompson, I'd see if I can package the extra 2nd and 4th to move back into the first round and get a safety or a DT. It depends on how the Raiders would want to play it, but I could see quite a few teams having a go at Lee if we put him out there. As injury prone as he is, he's one of the best LBs in the league, and I think teams know that.

Lee is a GREAT LB who is injured 50% of the season ......we might get a 4th rounder or a 3rd for SB contention team.....

Would you take Amari in the first round next year if you’re Dallas?

Yes, absolutely.

That’s all this boils down to.

Funny, I heard the exact same thing about Roy Williams...…………"you cant draft a WR that is as good as him in the first round"

How did that work out?;)

I suppose we do differ there. I was LIVID about the 9-7. Not just because I thought we might keep Garrett (which we did) as opposed to going 8-8, but it did torpedo our draft a bit. That being said, I suppose it DID work out with LVE being the pick, didn't it? Still, I don't want to go 8-8 or 9-7. I'd be even more livid knowing that we don't have a first, and that's why I was looking at possible moves that we could make to get back into the first.

I have been against it but now with this move I'd go sign Dez right now.
