Let me preface by saying, he didn't want to play here. Jerry should have played hardball and not given Kyle Orton his release.

I can't believe how much we missed Orton in a game like yesterday.

It steams me to see Mark Sanchez ,who looked great for Philly yesterday, save their day. They will not miss a beat with him as starter and may actually be better.

Today is a bad day......

0.o hindsight is everything - I don't like Weeden one bit, but I am glad our backup is not Mark Sanchez. I really think they need to give some reps to Vaughan. I don't see how it could be any worse then it was.

I don't think Linehan wanted Orton. That's jmo based on the few comments he made when asked about Orton.

I think they decided to release him, because they wanted somebody who'd been in the program all offseason and had bought into what the team was selling. Orton being away and suggesting he was going to "retire" left a sour taste in their mouth that was similar to Ratliff. They just decided to move on. I think it's time for fans to move on, too.

Sanchez looked alright, great is a stretch. He's a nervous nelly in the pocket.

Didn't see the Philly game but I did see Sanchez threw 2 picks so not sure, but he's definitely better than Weeds.

As for Vaughn, I was all about keeping him and developing him, but I did hear Holley (not that he is some great ex player) say if you put in Vaughn self doubt and the worry will start to happen in the locker room.

I think it's asking a lot for people to simply "move on" when this team gets taken for a ride by players.

And when they see the level of incompetence displayed by Weeden yesterday, coupled with the fact that Orton is leading Buffalo to wins, I can understand folks being upset.

Weededn looked good for a few series last week. Easy to look good when the other teams defense played against the starter and had a certain gameplan in place for that QB.

It's not just about Orton...why not kick the tires on Pryor? Why do we always bring in these stiffs every year to compete for the backup role. Go get someone who can extend the play a bit and at least get 1st downs with their feet.

If Orton didn't want to be here it's not a good idea to force the issue. He would have to be prepared to play and he didn't even look at the playbook from Linhan prior to training camp.

Too bad they didn't get Colt McCoy instead of Weeden.

I agree with you.

I'd be taking a look right after they return from London.

With this line and running game, a mobile quarterback might be able to keep the chains moving and maybe even win you a game.

It's painfully obvious that Weeden can't do that.

Yes - I believe if they leave him in last week, the Cowboys win the game. This week, I didn't think they would anyway. This Jax game is no joke. They have a new number 1 receiver and running back.

I'd like to think Weeden could play better than last week. Tony needs more rest or his season will be done.

at the very least he can extend the play for you and get eyes on other receivers. i don't understand garrett and wilson sometimes. they seem to be obsessed with finding a QB in the mold of aikman. strong arm, can't move, can't read defenses. just big ol' stiffs. it'd be nice if they thought outside of the box for once. an average qb at least gets us a close game yesterday. the fact that weeden was that bad after taking reps all year is a testament to bad coaching as well imo. they should have caught this problem a long time ago. we lost yesterday's game in the offseason.

I'm not asking anyone to do anything. I'm just saying what I think they should do. You can hold onto it for as long as you like, but for me what's done is done.

I can only lament the here and now. The here and now is that Weeden sucked.

Orton would have tossed a game losing pick just like he did last year.

Exactly. So sick of the all of sudden Orton love. Happens so many times on this board. The fake 'when a player leaves the Cowboys and has some small success somewhere else the all of sudden he's the greatest player ever' syndrome. Orton is less mobile than Weeden and had his screwup moment in a much bigger game.

I'm in complete agreement with you. They can't use, rust, lacks of reps, or inexperience to cover for that level of incompetence.

The guy just sucks and can't play.

But it's something they should have been seeing all along and shouldn't be news to them. No excuse for that.
