Let me preface by saying, he didn't want to play here. Jerry should have played hardball and not given Kyle Orton his release.

I can't believe how much we missed Orton in a game like yesterday.

It steams me to see Mark Sanchez ,who looked great for Philly yesterday, save their day. They will not miss a beat with him as starter and may actually be better.

Today is a bad day......

Orton did not want to be here and frankly I don't want player who do not want to be here.

I'm not asking anyone to do anything. I'm just saying what I think they should do. You can hold onto it for as long as you like, but for me what's done is done.

Well it sure reads that way.

I can only lament the here and now. The here and now is that Weeden sucked.

No arguments there.

Weeden did not look great yesterday. In fact, far from it. However, he did look pretty good against Washington. I suspect that Weeden is somewhere in the middle. The truth of the matter is that if we can't run the ball, we are not going to win with Weeden. He's a backup for a reason. You wanna lay the blame, then this falls squarely on the Organization IMO. Weeden is what he is and piling blame is not going to make him better.

Jax is not good Defensively. They are ranked 31st in the League overall. 31st against the pass, 28th against the rush 30th points scored per game. They can be scored on and we should be able to run the ball against these guys. We need to get Weeden ready to play if he has to go. I honestly hope this is what we decide. I would rather Tony have time to get his body right, rather then force the situation if he's not ready.

Well, that's just how you took it. I'm not into telling people on here what to do. But I will express my opinion on what I think folks should do. SHOULD being the operative word.

When did the decision become up to them?

When has it not? He was a no show and Dallas was not going to waste anymore time on him. if he was unwilling to put in the time and effort he was no good to the Cowboys anyways.

When they signed their name to that contract.

Only in Dallas do the inmates run the asylum. And decide if they'll honor their contract or not.

That has never stopped a player from walking away, Given the age of Orton he did not have to return if he choose not to and in the meantime as I said I don't want guys who do not want to be here. You will not get the effort and dedication you need from them.

I think it's asking a lot for people to simply "move on" when this team gets taken for a ride by players.

And when they see the level of incompetence displayed by Weeden yesterday, coupled with the fact that Orton is leading Buffalo to wins, I can understand folks being upset.

If not Orton then someone else. I can't believe that Weeden is a guy anybody on the staff could have felt comfortable with in the first place. Maybe he just had a one off bad performance yesterday but he couldn't complete the most fundamental of passes and he had the field vision of a mole.

It's not just about Orton...why not kick the tires on Pryor? Why do we always bring in these stiffs every year to compete for the backup role. Go get someone who can extend the play a bit and at least get 1st downs with their feet.
Im a big fan of Pryors, but he wasn't available in the offseason, he was late cut in training camp. It would be hard to cut Weeden at this point of the season.

$3 million in bonus money he would have been required to pay back would have "stopped a player from walking away". Don't be so desperate top absolve the Cowboys of every mistake that you blind yourself to the facts.

And if Orton's age (31), is somehow an issue, how is it different from Weeden (31)?

Again, facts thrown aside in a rush to defend the Cowboys mistakes.

ok I don't want players who do not want to be here. That is pretty simple. What so he can ride the bench collect cash and not perform? You think he is going to put in the time in film study or give a damn about winning when he does not want to be here? Not defending Weeden but I don't want a QB who does not want to be on the team period. You feel different fine

Yeah, I do feel differently.

I don't feel it should be up to a player to take this team's money and refuse to perform their duties, and then get rewarded for that bad behavior by getting what they want and getting to keep the money they haven't earned and then get paid on top of that.

And this team has caved in to that behavior not once, but twice. A terrible precident has been set for the next malcontent who wants some "money for nothin'"

And now, caving into a player has once again cost them, in both money/cap space, but performance and a chance to win as well.

Why lament a guy who didn't want to be in Dallas? It's clear to me the team wanted him back he just didn't cooperate.

Look Weeden was pretty bad yesterday but Arizona is 7-1.

The QB to beat them was Payton Manning, not Kyle Orton.
That Cards defense has allowed over 20 points, once. To Manning and Denver.
That defense is the real deal.

We lost, time to move on.

If all turns out right maybe we'll see them in the playoffs and if we do it should be with Tony Romo.

If Orton didn't want to be here it's not a good idea to force the issue. He would have to be prepared to play and he didn't even look at the playbook from Linhan prior to training camp.

Too bad they didn't get Colt McCoy instead of Weeden.

My thoughts exactly.

Fine we could pay him and he does not have to perform, easy to take a hit and take yourself out of a game so you still pay the money with no results. Either way you lose.
