That is the gayest video ive ever seen hahahaha.

I about died laughing when they said, " The big question we had about Amendola was, how is he going to get seperation? Well there ya go."

I see how this is going to go. This guy is people's new pet cat so of course you then have to downgrade others to make room.

I hope he does well but the zero sum mentality is one part of human behavior that ihave never liked.
I agree in terms of blasting one player just because you like another player better. However, in terms of earning a roster spot, this is a zero sum game. If one guy makes it, someone else doesn't.

If he makes the team I wont be surprised but i am worried that Romo and small receiver are not exactly compatible.

What is that?

Their point was that he does it with his quickness and extreme precision in route-running. If both didn't stand out to you when watching the video, I don't know what to tell you.

The Welker comparisons seemed forced to me at first, but he has the same "water bug" quickness and precision that Welker has. Neither is going to run a route over 10 yards in depth, but in the slot they can kill you.

You mean the way Welker killed us last year?

We had no answer.

Don't anyone get mad, but other than the 1 handed catch and turning the DB around backwards one time, I wasn't all that impressed.

I'd like to see video of why he was giving Jenkins such a hard time. It might better explain why everyone is so excited.

I think between his name, size, and "waterbug" in the slot....

a nickname of the Amoeba might be considered.....

Agreed... one thing that consistently stuck out to me though was... his cut seemed very sharp and like they said he didnt give it away before he made his cut.

Well, they only showed about 5-6 routes. And one of those was demonstrating a negative. Other than the 1 handed catch and the DB turnaround route, they just showed him running routes on his own. Nothing really to impress with there.

So, the 1 handed catch, the DB turnaround route and the very 1st route thrown, that's about all there was to be impressed with. Were you not impressed with that 1st route? Even if not, that's 2 out of 3 that you're impressed with.

I've always liked both Hurd and Austin. The look on Austin's face when he returned that kick was one of my favorite moments in recent Cowboys history.....however, both of these guys have been given ample time to improve their standing on the team. Perhaps they already have, and we just aren't aware of it yet, but if they haven't...it's time for some new blood. I'm thinking that the recent talent we've picked up in the return game is putting some pressure on Austin.

This kid looks the part to me, although I have to admit I'm no expert at picking out receivers. I just don't know how you can watch this kid play football and not like the way in which he does it. I'm guessing he was pretty good at "smeer the queer". :D

...for everyone's viewing enjoyment (not just because it's Amendola, it's actually a great video) I offer this one yet again:

I'd say the cuts, getting separation and turning a DB around with only 4.5 speed is pretty impressive.

The one handed catch wasn't all that impressive to me, it's easy to catch a ball one handed when no one is on you.

I think the most underrated aspect of being a WR is route running, and Amendola seems to be much more polished in that aspect than most undrafted rookies. I wouldn't leave it up to a two minute video to impress or sour you on him though, there are other videos and plenty of read-ups on him.

Was just watching a replay of the Patriots-Commanders game and they mentioned that Jason Garrett said Wes Welker was his favorite player of all time.

Just something to keep him mind when assessing Amendola's chances of making this team.

Soooooooo.....the D will just press cover him--right?

He's quick enough to beat a press, it's actually probably more physical corners he'd have an issue with.

Press is usually good against guys that can't get separation, such as big slow receivers. If you press a quick guy and wiff, you'll get torched.

That is interesting...and I don't know how any Cowboys fan can watch the Pats game last year and not be interested in finding a Welker prototype. Given it was against lesser competition, but the highlights of this guy are the closest thing I've personally seen. Apparently he's impressed at the mini camp too. Having Staubach involved in us taking a look at him speaks volumes too.
