There's nothing to reference his height in those pics. Looks about the same to me.

I didn't actually think he'd gotten taller. I was just making a stupid comment because I didn't end up selecting two pictures with similar dimensions. I really was just curious to see if I could find a recent picture to get some sense of how much of the 90 pounds he'd lost he might might have put back on. He does actually look a little bigger to me in the Dallas jersey, but that's nothing remotely definitive.

Thanks for the link. It also gives the timeline of recovery and training.

Symptomatic: March 2013
Coma : April 2013-July 2013
Cognitive Rehab: July 2013-October 2013
Physical Training w/ trainer September 2013-now
Signed w/ Cowboys last winter.

Says that he is now 310 lbs.

His brain was scrambled so who knows what is going on with his motor skills but he has been working out for 11 months now. I will be rooting for him.

Wonder what they got him taking. I know someone who just started on IVIG for an auto immune disease and it doesn't sound too fun. Every 2 weeks, 7-9 hour infusions, and would be longer for a person okoye's size. Also he's pretty wiped out the following day.

He's in uncharted territory playing football with this. Hope it works out for him.

Really fascinating case here. Rooting for the guy, obviously. Hopefully the tarp has lifted, the health has shifted, and he shows us how much he is gifted

supposedly he is cured so he would no longer need to be taking heavy stuff.

if it only took him 4 months cognitive recovery then they were not scrambled; maybe just over easy.

Front side up...I don't think that Okoye qualifies for the lead role in a movie from the book, 'Charlie.'

Okoye_081414_650.jpg

“I don’t anticipate (Okoye practicing Monday) but I know we have a three-stage conditioning (process),” Jones said. “He has been in the second stage and working toward the third stage. I don’t think

Okoye, the 10th overall pick in the 2007 draft by the Texans, has played two seasons with the Bears under defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli. While he hasn’t lived up to the high expectations of a top pick, Okoye is still just 27 years of age.

This study also confirmed that patients with the condition are more likely to be of Asian or African origin.

The earlier identifications revolved observing a tumor. It is an autoimmune complication...but today, and with better detections, many patients who don't have a tumor, as this, are receiving treatments for the condition.

Drugs that attack the immunity aspects are corrective for the disease.

Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis is a disorder mediated by antibodies to the NR1 subunit of the receptor [1]. Clinical manifestations include (a) prodromal phase with nonspecific symptoms like fever, headache and nausea (b) psychotic phase with emotional disturbances, amnesia, cognitive decline and strange behavior (c) unresponsive phase with catalepsy like symptoms and athetoid dystonic posturing (d) hyperkinetic phase with orofacial limb dyskinesia and orolingual dyskinesia and (e) recovery phase with gradual or complete recovery.

Since Okoye was cleared by his physician, we can assume that he has fully recovered and is in a current monitoring status.

He lost all the weight initially, with the initial chemo therapy he received in the treatments for the initial complexity that he experienced.

He has a great heart and has reconditioned with the Cowboys for a relatively long period in his recovery.

He is a very sharp person, and has a huge heart and love of the game of football. He is now very loyal to both the Dallas Cowboys and to Rod Marrinelli.

I truly wish him the greatest rewards in his current level of journey. You go man!

It's funny that non doctors on this form are second guessing what are likely some of the best neurologists in the country....

Agree, but that doesn't count on here. We have internet Doctor's, GM's, Coaches, Owners, Experts of everything, Pshycologists, people that read between the lines and interpret everything said in a different way, people that think what ever a player / coach / owner says is a lie.....I'm sure I'm missing a few...

Yep, he looks huge in the one picture compared to the other Idgit. LOL!

I am just not discounting their chance to contribute out of hand. As I keep mentioning the bar for play is not 'high level.' It's Hayden, Bishop, Coleman, Rayford and Ojomo.

Nor is he probably expected to play more than 10-15 snaps a game over the first part of the season.

He OBVIOUSLY loves football, I hope it loves him back enough to give him a healthy productive season. Great story even if he doesn't play a down.

Will be very easy to cheer for him. He obviously feels comfortable in trying to comeback and apparently the team has seen enough out of him to think he might be able to help out at a position of weakness.

At this point there aren't a ton of options for bringing in talent...giving Okoye and Minter and Green and Boatwright a chance hurts NOTHING....so why complain about it.

I wonder how long he had this problem before it was diagnosed.

Just goes to show the lengths the Boys will go to improve their D-line. I hear they're in negotiations with Lazarus.... :D

In all seriousness, good story. If the guy is cleared, I hope he makes it back.

What is odd to me is that when they were asked about it, someone on twitter (eatman archer or Broaddus) made a reference to him being crazy a few weeks ago.

Yeah, Broaddus had said that Amobi's issues were mental not physical, or something to that effect - I don't think he said he was crazy. Guess he meant that a different way than it came across.
