There are some #3 WRs that are better than Crayton (Breaston being one). So he'd be last on the list IMO.

Think about what you just said...and contemplate those 4 great years of 7th grade that you had. Just kidding.

Point is, Breaston could be better than half of those WR2s. So does that make all of them in last place too? Fine if you really think Crayton is last among the WR2s, but your logic for getting him there is completely flawed.

Please. Did you even look at the names toward the bottom of the list?

Crayton is a #4 WR paid like a #2. I'd take 4.3 speed in Harvin or Bey over 4.65 with the wind anyday of the week

Bring back Randall Williams or Ed Hervey!

Niether could play a lick, but they could run fast.

Whats the difference? Crayton bobbles important passes and disappears in big games.

of course he does

he's been a total waste for us hasnt he? What a waste of a premium draft pick. Oh wait, he wasnt a premium draft pick. He was a 7th rd pick that was converted to QB, who turned into a dependable starter.

There's been a lot of talk about Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin today, so I put together a list of what I feel are current WR2s.

I very roughly ranked my top 10 on how I think they are now (not in the past) and then just posted the other 21 in semi-ranked order.

Where would you rank Patrick Clayton on this list?

1--A Boldin (az)
2--W Welker (ne)
3--L Evans (buf)
4--H Ward..or Holmes (pit)
4--Royal (den)
6--Driver (gb)
7--L Coles (cin)
8--L Moore (no)
9--A Gonzaloa (ind)
10--K Walter (hou)
11--M Muhammed
12--Bruce (sf)
13--Chambers (sd)
14--B Engram (kc)
15--J Maclin (phi)
16--J Gage (ten)
17--M Jenkins (atl)
18--D Branch (sea)
19--D Patten (cle)
20--S Smith (nyg)
21--Harvin, Rice, or Wade (minn)
22--Randel El (was)
23--J Morgan (sf)
24--Heward-Bey or Walker (oak)
25--Mi Walker (jax)
26--Mi Clayton (bal)
27--Bry Johnson or Bess (Mia)
28--Clowney (nyj)
29--R Davis or Bennet (chi)
30--Ma Calyton (tb)
31--L Robinson (sl)

I say maybe he's in the 12-20 range, but it's hard to say. I mean, do you want Crayton over Harvin or Heyward-Bey, for example? Tough call.
Well in all fairness how can you rank players that have yet to play an NFL snap ahead of Crayton or any other accomplished receiver?

Crayton is the BEST number 3 receiver in the NFL and an average number two.

I don't care if we got him for free off the street, he isn't that good. Not to mention his mancrush on TO. Get him out of here. I don't want that lingering TO trash on the Dallas Cowboys.

He would be missed if they don't replace him, its up to Manny Johnson, travis Wilson, Sam Hurd and Miles Austin to show he's expendable, his tenure and reputation (beyond a loud mouth and a bad playoff game) are pretty solid, not unlike a seventh rounder from a generation ago named leon Lett, a real good player who's mistakes were harped on a head of his subtle and consistent contributions as if his football career was defined by two or three embarassing plays.

Of course he would be replaced. Sam Hurd in the slot would be just as good if not better than Crayton. The guy had TO on the outside and Witten running seam routes. It's not that hard to put up 600-700 yards when you have those decoys. I don't like his connection with TO and I just want all that garbage off the team. He doesn't return punts, has no speed and comes up lame in big catches and a TO advocate. Not sure why he's even considered to be on this team.

Don't get me wrong, I like Crayton, but I don't think much of Crayton as a #2WR. As a #2WR he seemed to have all but disappeared; at least I don't think his production was what it could have been. There were lots of times that I saw him unable to beat his coverage.

When you consider the attention that Owens and Witten demanded from opposing defenses, Crayton could have/should have been a bigger target. Now either that's his fault for not being able to break coverage, or Romo's fault for simply not throwing it to him.

And I don't buy into that "Romo had to force the ball to Owens" crap either. Owens was able to get himself open often. Witten was able to get himself open often. It's a skill Crayton (and Austin and Hurd) need to work on.

Also consider that he's not the biggest or the strongest or the fastest. Working as a #3WR though, I think Crayton can be a threat; that clutch player that can pick up the key 1st downs/yards. I think that should be his role and a role where he can excel.

He reminds me of Keychain (only 1000x more likable). Get him the ball, he'll catch it, but don't expect him to burn a guy down field or out-muscle the press.

4.3 means nothing if you can't catch the ball. Give me Crayton over Bey.
