An interesting similarity to the Giants 9-7 Super Bowl team

I honestly don't think that we are going to go very far should we make the playoffs....are division is our only way in. But in that year the Giants traveled to New Orleans fresh off of two straight losses. The Saints proceeded to blow them out 49-24. The Giants followed it up the next week with a loss to the Packers to fall to 6-6. They then won 3 out of their next 4 and went on their super bowl run.

In the NFL strange things happen. Lets take the bye week and hopefully get some guys back like Claiborne, Wilcox, and Hatcher. Let D Ware rest the leg up even more. Maybe we get good news that Sean Lee will only miss 3-4 weeks instead of the rest of the season and then lets see where it goes.

If we win against the Giants and are sitting at 6-5 it may not look the best but we would be 4-0 in the division. Offensively lets hope we get something out of the money we are paying Miles Austin and maybe Garrett takes more control of the offense because clearly the Callahan experiment is not working.

I am ready now for all the flaming of how we are nothing like that Giant team etc....We may not be but we can cross the bridge of blowing the team up when we come to it. As for right now we still have a chance to make the playoffs and I will hold out that hope.

Love the optimism.

Are we talking about the same game? The NFC Championship Game from three years ago. Where Eli was standing in the pocket, under tremendous pressure and completing passes?
As for mistakes, so what? The Giants capitlized on their mistakes and the 49ers didn't. That means the Giants were more prepared and, thus, took advantage of their opportunities, like winning teams are supposed to do.
I don't understand why you feel the need to minimize what the Giants did. What, are teams not worthy of winning because they force their opponents into mistakes or their opponents make mistakes?
That's all part of the game.
The game where he threw off of his backfoot into coverage all game...when two 49ers knocked each other away from easy picks twice. Eli was 32 for 58, and the Giants were gifted the game by Kyle Williams. They didn't force the 9ers to do anything. The 9ers just sucked harder that day.

First, I have been working so did not have the time to respond to everyone but you can claim the Giants team was different or whatever but they were not a very good team that year they just simply got hot right at the correct time.

Second, the boys may literally tank all their games left. There is no evidence to suggest we are going to go on some long winning streak and make the playoffs so I don't argue that but what is the point in being so negative about things? If you don't like it then go "cheer" for someone else. If we suck the rest of the season and miss the playoffs then I will want a change at the head coaching position as well and want one at the gm position right now but that doesn't stop me from rooting for the team. Some of you seem happier when we lose so you have something to complain about. It was just a small comparison. We need to take it one game at a time. Spend the off week getting some guys back healthy and then go beat the Giants; which by the way will be much easier than beating the saints in New Orleans.

The injuries are a large part of it, but let's be honest...this defense schematically broken.

I have never seen anything like it and it is hard to grasp.

I don't see it that way. Cincinnati, Chicago, etc. run pretty much the same defense.

I think we have some bad fits for the defense, like Claiborne and Carter (although I'm surprised how bad of a fit Carter has been).

I think Church sucks.

But other than that we have had an insane amount of injuries in the past 2 seasons.

If we were playing next week, the starting defense would look like this:

RDE: Wilber
DT: Hayden
DT: Nevis?
LDE: Selvie
ROLB: Carter
MLB: Durant/Holloman?
CB: Carr
CB: Scandrick
SS: Church
FS: Heath

I think pretty hardcore fans of football that are not Cowboys fans have never heard of 6-7 of those guys. Wilber was never supposed to be a starter. Hayden, Nevis and Selvie are guys we picked up off the street. Durant was supposed to be a stop-gap at the SAM backer. Holloman is a 7th round rookie. Scandrick was not supposed to start outside. Heath is a UDFA rookie.

I would like to see the coach and the scheme that could play well with this many players injured. It would be impressive to watch.

that Giants team had heart and were willing to punch you in the mouth. This team is NOTHING like them, this core pf players or players not drafted in the last 3-4 years will NEVER win anything except the stat contest. Not that i like or am rooting for that but I have excepted it, Dez will not want to resign here with the team in the current status quo and he may not be the only one. The group of players that are probably HOF material are on the same level as the owner and at this point it would be better to get rid of the exxxhorbitant salaries and bring in some young hungry guns. They cannot be any worse than the 4 or five guys taking up 45% of the salary cap. Lets face it people, we are slowly driving by the horrific wreck on the freeway and I hope the owner has enough sense to realize his GM is part of the problem as well as a few people he is loyal to.

TThey got hot twice... this team hasn't even reached luke warm yet bro and history has shown this team does not have the backbone to do what the Giants did. But like Raider fans, Keep Hope Alive!!!

Dont get your panties in a wad because no one believes we can go on a super bowl run. Youre right, youre the only REAL Cowboys fan here.

........is this the Dallas Cowboys we expect or want

I like some of the kids/players and Marinelli, .. but I don't like Garrett, Callahan or Kiffen, can't stand Jones, not crazy about the new "Death Star" stadium.
I don't like or agree with an offense that throws it 40 or 50 times a game.
Defensive philosophy is a joke.

Other than the Blue Star, I'm not even sure what I'm cheering for anymore.

This is getting old.

It's not just the defense, dog. The whole team is fundamentally flawed. And, aside from blaming Jerry, I have no clue how they can fix anything this season.

Actually, it might blow my mind if they even win the division!

There is no similarity at all. That team had strength in it's DL. This group is laughable. The worst in the entire league. I'm embarrassed by the riff-raff we trot out there on Sundays.

They're not making a run this year.

Nobody here is saying that we will win a Super Bowl like the 2011 Giants did. What people are pointing out is that there are similarities between this team and the 2011 Giants. That's undeniable.

Let's stop the misunderstanding. Comparing this year's Cowboys to a Super Bowl champion does not logically imply a prediction that the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl. It's just that, a comparison.

Most Giants fans, back in the middle of the 2011 season, would have called you absurd if you told them that the Giants would win the Super Bowl that year.
