An ugly truth on the offensive line

He's been really good all year. He was only okay this last game and got beat a couple times. I know Bryan Broaddus isn't super popular around here, but here's what he said about Tyron last game:

Fans here generally base their opinions on 1 or 2 plays or from national media.

Lost in the layers of stories last week was a very disturbing reality against Philadelphia.

And I think it played a big part in Dallas losing the game.

Brandon Graham flat owned Tyron Smith. I mean, he beat him virtually every single time. Every time there was a big play coming, they'd throw Graham over there, and he'd go around Tyron like a traffic cone.

For all his great attributes, Tyron has games like this against certain players. I sometimes wonder if he isn't the RIGHT TACKLE on this team, and that another left tackle should be brought in.

This kind of thread us what keeps me away from here.

Well if we have a chance to draft Tunsil or Stanley then OK. But they would replace Free not Smith.

He did struggle against Graham but my take away on it wasn't so much Smith as why we don't have a Brandon Graham like linebacker who is that athletic and an edge rusher. I love Sean Lee but he's not that kind of player nor is McClain, nor is Hitchens.

Philly runs a 34 defense. If Graham played for Dallas, he would be a WDE in the Cowboys 43 scheme. If Randy Gregory would have been drafted by Philly, he would be an OLB in their scheme. The Dallas LB's should be compared to Kiko Alonso or Kendricks... not their pass rushing OLB's.

They were collapsing the pocket all game, but that was the first time I had seen that all year

Besides all the injuries and terrible coaching this year is weird. Every position group has taken a step back this year except for crazily enough the cbs.

My point being his body of work is very good. if you're a better tackle than Smith on the left side you're hell of a player and that's not what we'll be looking for in the draft for a few years but linebacker is becoming a priority.

LBER has become a priority.

We have tried to take retreads like McLain and reclamation projects like Lee and drafted guys like Carter and nothing sticks.

I had high hopes for Hitchens but he's had typical 2nd year jinx with his game..

and our off season signings have left alot to be desired.

We have to shore this slide at the position if the defense is going to improve.

It will be a challenge.

smith is undoubtedly a top 3 LT in the league AND STILL DOESN'T TURN 25 UNTIL DECEMBER.

Ty had a bad game but he's still a Top 5 LT in the league...

I think Tyron is top 2.

A good debate can be had on who is the best between Joe Thomas vs Tyron Smith, however, there is no-one else in their stratosphere at LT.

If we fail to turn things around, it will not be because of T Smith.

Probably so, I just went conservative with Top 5...
