I don’t really have feelings about it either way. The real Roy Williams has been missing for a few seasons now, dispite the mythbusters. He has to be the only player to have never blown a coverage. But he will always be one of my all time favorites. NFL=Not For Long.

I am curious are people happy that roy is being cut because it is news and something new to talk about or are they glad to get rid of him?

For me, if williams is released or traded I think it will be very bittersweet. he is one of our homegrown players and essentially one of us. It will be a very sad day. I have called him on some of his poor play as much as anyone, but I am still very much a fan of the guy.

he is a good guy, a really good guy actually and he is a good locker room guy.

For me, he really will be missed. I hope if this happens he is picked up somewhere and has a great career.
I don't think anyone is happy to see him get cut for personal reasons, but many on here have known for sometime that Roy is not the same player we drafted years ago and he has become a detriment to the team. Teams were game planning for him...not to get away from his hard hitting, game changing play ability, No...teams were game planning to go right at him, to exploit his weaknesses in coverage and move the chains. That is what Roy has become. At this point, the staff has done just about everything besides moving him to LB to help him, and he claims to have tried to help himself, but it didn't work. He is a great guy, but this team needs to get a real solution for the position because nothing has worked.

This gives me the impression that his time is done in Dallas.

I think he's either traded or released at this point.

No restructuring, and no sticking around for another chance to turn things around.

It's the business. It's nothing personal.

Colts released their icon Marvin Harrison
Niners released their icon Jerry Rice
Packers released their icon Brett Favre

It happens all the time. It sucks. But it's just how it works.

I think he just lost his desire to be a good football player. When he lost all that weight before camp a couple years back I got excited, and thought he was starting to take his weight and conditioning seriously. Come to find out, he was just taking tons of diet pills(Isagenix mainly) to drop a bunch of water weight before camp.

With all that said strength and conditioning Coach Juraszek says that he is one of the harder workers on the team. So I dunno who the real Roy Williams is, but I seriously doubt we or anyone else will see the great player we thought we had 6 years ago again.

Didn't see this posted. Apologies if I missed it.

The Cowboys are reportedly shopping SS Roy Williams in trade talks.

Williams will likely be cut in the likely event Dallas can't find a taker. The coverage-challenged safety's release would save over $2 million under the cap and $4.4 million in cash. It's worth noting that if Williams is moved we won't have to refer to the other Roy as "Roy E." anymore.

I'm guessing he'll be cut. I don't see much trade value ... possibly a pizza.

I think that RLW is more valuable then a 4th or 5th. I think he's a middle to low 3rd rd value. I never really believed he was worth the 8th pick in the draft but I also don't believe he is a a bum. He isn't a coverage safety but he's still a pretty good player IMO. He played hardly at all last year so that's one less season of wear and tear on the guy. Will people give anything for him? Probably not. They will just wait for us to cut him, which is why I don't believe we should cut him. I think that somebody might want Roy and I wouldn't be surprised if Miami might not want him. Parcells always thought he could be more but he also thought that he was a pretty dang good player, as is.

What begins exactly?

This has been reported like 50 times all in speculation mode.

We all think it could happen and would make sense but it hasn't happened yet so what has begun?
It always begins with "they may" which translates to "my guess is"

Not with that contract. I doubt there is anyone in the league - us included apparently - that want to pay a 2 down safety $4.5M a year to get horse collar penalties.

If he restructures there may be some trade value, as undoubtedly there may be someone out there who thinks they can 'coach him up' (its a 2nd and 3rd and sometimes 4th chance league), but even then its definitely low round because you could draft a safety with a 3rd who can do what Roy does.

Parcells just signed Gibril Wilson, so I doubt it.

I agree, that's about as high as he would go with his salary. Heck, I'd take a 7th.

If he gets traded, his contract is going to be reworked regardless so I don't really think that's too big of an issue.

Your correct about Miami. They signed Gibril Wilson just a couple of hours ago. They signed him for 5.5 Million bucks per. I don't know. I look at Gibril Wilson and I don't really see a better player there then I do with Roy. I just don't.

*shrug* I certainly do. Wilson is not the best cover safety by any stretch, but he isn't such a liability he needs to come off the field on passing downs. Teams don't say after games against him "Yeah, our OC did a great job devising schemes to get us isolated coverage on Gibril" like they do with Roy. Meanwhile he tackles anything he gets near, and he gets to things much faster than Roy now.

I wasn't his biggest fan when he was on the Giants but I would take him over Williams right now in a heartbeat.

Teams in our division game plan for Roy. No matter where we try to hide him and no matter the down, they will try to pass on him when he's on the field. Plus, although Roy's charitable nature off the field is unquestionable, his finger pointing has earned him few friends on the team, especially when they get gestured at while trying to compensate for his deficiencies. He does Tackle receivers after the catch pretty well, but that's about it. Also good on special teams.

Mosely is on GAC right now. He says the Cowboys are trying to trade Roy Williams, and will release him if they can not.
