like against St. Louis?gimmesix;2655902 said:OK, Davis is a more than willing hitter who gets run over because he doesn't have the size or strength to consistently stand up runners.
No matter what deficiences Williams has in pass defense, which proved no greater than those shown by Davis, he can stuff the run.
I'd at least rather have a safety who can do one of those things really well than one who can do neither.
Again, that's not a knock on Davis, he is what he is ... a very good special teammer and a try-hard backup safety.

Posted by CBS11
While teams will be shopping for players when the free agency period begins at 11:00pm (CST) tonight, the Dallas Cowboys are trying to shop safety Roy Williams.
CBS 11 Sports has learned that the Cowboys are seeking a low round draft pick for Williams, a five-time Pro Bowler and the Cowboys first round pick in 2002.
If the Cowboys cannot trade him, I would think they will just waive him. Before teams do that, they try to see if anyone will bite on sending a late round draft pick for the player. It will be interesting to see if teams are willing to give up even that for Williams.
Williams’s career has been interesting. He started out as an impact player, a true Pro Bowler, and then made a few Pro Bowls when his play did not warrant it.
I think he was at his best when the Cowboys played a 4-across zone defense, something that began when Jimmy Johnson arrived, but has pretty much been fazed out of the defensive game plan. Doesn’t mean it is good or bad, it just means that Roy was not nearly as effective in other schemes.
Just because you draft a player for a certain scheme, it doesn’t mean that scheme will survive coaching changes. The scheme didn’t survive, and it appears that Roy Williams Cowboys’ career will also come to an end.

Perhaps, NE, which could be a fit for Roy Williams, could flip that pick for him.
