why does he feel the need to announce it? I can understand friends and family but to the general public? Can you bring the news based on facts and not opinion if you can do that I really don't care who he goes to bed with at night.

Get in line! Nobody should care about anyones sexuality straight or gay, but we get the gay shoved down our throats over and over on a regular basis. That's the issue. It isn't that you care or don't care, it's that you will be inundated with gay news and his gay announcement.

Why should anyone care that AC is gay? Why does the guy feel he has to "come out" and announce to the world? It's just silly. Cooper cares more about his sexuality and the so called "pop" he will get for finally saying so, when everyone knew he was gay. Why write some silly email claiming so?

I just don't see the issue w/ being gay nowadays that everyone else does. It isn't like it used to be. It's not perfect but it is definately more acceptable now than in the past. Much much easier to be what you are in todays society than it was in the 70's and 80's.


I think there is a lot more to being gay than just the sexuality of it and the persons involved. You now have big money involved and high profile people.

Documentaris all over the tv and movies and shows.

People just get tired of hearing about it. Every new gay story is like we landed on the moon again.

Oh your gay too? Well dang... You know I'm straight? You don't care about that though right? Your gayness deserves to be front page material.

It's just silly is all I'm saying. Just be yourself. People would be amazed at what transpires from just being who you are from day 1.

Well, right now activism for gay rights is at a peak turning point. Activists are going all in right now and trying to get as many notable gay people out there for the last push. I feel like this has a lot to do with Anderson finally coming out. With the upcoming elections, Obama now supporting marriage, etc... It is go time in gay rights land.

If they want to help their cause they may want to stop throwing these gay pride parades and dressing and acting like freaks. Funny I have worked with gay people who find those parades offensive and a setback. Many want to be treated normal like anyone else then these parades takes place that only stoke the stereo type many want to escape from

In the Beast post, columnist Andrew Sullivan explains that he recently reached out to long-time friend Cooper (for what he tactfully described as "reasons that are probably obvious to most") for feedback on last week's Entertainment Weekly story "The New Art of Coming Out: How Gay Stars Are Now Carefully—and Surprisingly—Going Public About Their Private Lives."

Cooper responded with a super long, somber email all about himself — the kind of email we all spend hours crafting any time a friend forwards us a link with the body text "did u read this cool story lol."

You can read the missive in its entirety at the Daily Beast. The basic gist of Cooper's letter is that he was never uncomfortable being a gay man, but found that remaining an (obviously gay) enigmatic silver shadow made him a more effective journalist.

Anyway he was always a pretty obvious gay man. This has been known for a long time from what I understand. His choice to make it public wasn't needed and even if someone else broke the story it would garner the same reaction from me..."So".
