We must all stay divided or there will be problems. When will folks ever figure this out? We can't move forward because of the ramifications of being united. Holy moly this nation gets along?

Bologna! Not on my watch. :laugh2:

I agree with you. It shouldn't even be news or matter.

This site is so filled with people who live by hatred it isn't even funny...

Are people persecuted for being straight? No, thus it's not the same thing. Anderson Cooper came out today as someone has said it as a major news figure who is openly gay. Which is huge for the gay community, and will certain help shape things to come.

People are happy for him because it takes courage to step out and be yourself when there are people out there as evidenced in this topic alone who are against you for who you are.

Ask yourself, how many openly gay journalists are there on mainstream news? Yeah, this was a big deal.

I thought the guy had already come out. I see no need in making it public. What a person does in their bedroom should stay there. With that being said , I find the behaviour disgusting. I know that being gay is the Hollywood cool thing to do, but it should be a private matter. The "Gay Pride" parades are the worst. I dont want to see a big hairy rear end on may way to Walmart. I can't help it, I just don't want to see it. I don't want to see a man and women engage in sexual acts in public either. Maybe it's my strict Southern upbringing. I know may gay people. I try to treat them with respect and not talk about the subject and hope they do the same.

What is funny is that people in this thread saying good for him and then going further to inform us all that they don't really care.

Really, you don't care?

Get in line! Nobody should care about anyones sexuality straight or gay, but we get the gay shoved down our throats over and over on a regular basis. That's the issue. It isn't that you care or don't care, it's that you will be inundated with gay news and his gay announcement.

Why should anyone care that AC is gay? Why does the guy feel he has to "come out" and announce to the world? It's just silly. Cooper cares more about his sexuality and the so called "pop" he will get for finally saying so, when everyone knew he was gay. Why write some silly email claiming so?

This whole thing is gay.

Freakin typing my "im straight" email right now. You all are on notice! I will be ready with my own CBZ announcement within the hour.

Right on. Great post.

Just for you. I'm coming out the front door and admitting I'm straight, that is right I like women. Don't know why other than my own self importance did I feel the need for you to know this information but there you have it :laugh2:

I too would also like to come out and confirm to the world that I am straight. I love women. Women of all colors. I know my being attracted to women may be offensive to some, but I just couldn't hold back my true feelings any longer.

Ah, it feels so good to finally get that off my chest!

That's pretty insensitive and inappropriate.

Not really. My ex-girlfriend's best friend was gay. He said it was a big deal with them (gays) to know who was the "pin" and who was the "cushion." From what he told me, some gays will not date another unless they are one of the two. For example, a pin would never date another pin and a cushion would never date another cushion.

(Sorry if this post is a little confusing but I tried to keep it as clean as possible.)

'Gay' is a light, pretty little word used to describe this, .. but it doesn't really fit when you actually think, and picture what these men are doing with and to each other now does it?

They probably think what you are doing is just as disgusting.

You are really brave for going public with it. So many people just won't come out of the closet and admit to being straight. You are setting such a good example for other straights.

Use baseball as an example. Pitchers and catchers. Works everytime.

I don't need to read the email. The whole announcing/my-story email part is what I am talking about.

The thing is people shouldn't care that he's gay. Who cares? :D

Ideally, people shouldn't care.

However, the whole "keep it to yourself" vibe here is not one of true acceptance. It is an attitude of "I'm fine with it, just don't shove it in my face." In the grand scheme of things, that attitude is better than other geographically oriented posters are putting forth, but it isn't something that leads true "who cares" feelings.

Gee, could it be because the is the most common thing? Could it be because most everyone will assume that right off the bat?

1) They don't know what I'm doing, because I don't feel the need to tell everyone what I'm doing.

2) And they know what they are doing is wrong, why do you think it is so important for them to seek everyone's approval, acceptance?

How on earth are the "telling you what they are doing?" I don't think AC stood up and detailed the sexual acts he was engaged in.

The idea that what they are doing is wrong is something you are going to need to get over.

Oh, wait.

Seriously though. In the year 2012, announcing one's sexual orientation does seem passe.
It's borderline narcissistic.

I wish to have a headline with my name in it announcing that I like mint choclate chip ice cream.
I mean, who the heck cares?

Just by being famous and gay lol.

Now every news channel presents things in support of their political vision. Do you really think channels like Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC are unbiased?

Did not say they were not unbiased only saying what true journalism is and it has become a lost art. Anderson Cooper being gay does not mean a thing unless he is now going to give us the news according to those who are gay.

Reading the rest of your posts in this thread it seems to be an all encompassing theme.

I don't spend much time worried if some people are gay or not, I judge people by how they treat me and I show the same respect. Now as for the joke as I mentioned it was a person who was gay who said it this person had no problem with being gay and having a sense of humor, too bad so many others are thin skined and can't take jokes. When I come across people like that where every word you say you have to be careful I just avoid them because life is too short to play their stupid little games.
