I absolutely love the Andy Griffith Show.

One of the best shows ever on TV.

And another part of my childhood dies.

Time gone by. Wasn't a perfect time in the world at large, but The AG Show was idyllic in what it represented. Like an old friend that kinda helped make you feel better. Still is.

That describes it perfectly. Andy was a great banjo player as well. His contributions were significant in their reflection of American culture. The Andy Griffith Show and Andy's musical contributions will stand the test of time. I hope Ron Howard will comment at some point. He owes much to Andy and to the quality of the shows he was in.

R.I.P. Andy Griffith

Ron Howard ‏just went to Twitter to post a message about his friend Andy Griffith ... writing, "His pursuit of excellence and the joy he took in creating served generations & shaped my life I'm forever grateful RIP Andy." http://www.tmz.com/2012/07/03/andy-griffith-dies-dead/

This is a real sad day. I loved to watch Andy Griffith. Heck, I watched Andy Griffith with my Grandfather and later, with my oldest boy when he was little. Lots of good memories over the years.

RIP Andy Griffith

I believe every major character from the series except Ron Howard and Jim Nabors is now gone, and Nabors just had heart surgery in his 80s.

Time marches on.

It's all been said so I'll just add "ditto".

The other thing I find gratifying about some of these old favorites is hearing retrospectives from cast members who talk about the fondness they had for one another, and the appreciation they have for just how special that time was.

Uplifting show that brings back a lot of fond memories. Better'n so much of the garbage they call TV programming these days, as we all know.

What a great show that was, .. and there were many more great shows back in those days.

What a shame for kids today that they can't grow up with classic shows like those.

After someone passes, TCM is pretty good at showing their movies as a tribute, might keep an eye out for that.

Ran across this video from when Doug Dillard passed on in May. It seemed appropriate for Andy at this juncture. RIP Andy Griffith.

American treasure and icon. Can remember watching Andy Griffith show with my pop, we laughed and loved it. Amazing singer, comedian, actor and just kept coming.

RIP Andy...you will be missed.

Like many of you, I watched his show growing up. I still enjoy watching it when I can catch it on TV. The show reminds me of a simpler time when the world was not so corrupt. I am truly saddened to hear of Andy's passing. RIP Andy, you will be missed.

I know exactly what you mean. Were it not for reruns on TV LAND or dvd's I would not know of shows like this! I love watching this show. Makes me laugh no matter how many times I see the shows. Andy was special.
