Peppers played at UofM, and you know that deal with the Flint water. ;)

Seriously, though. I think it's water weight in Peppers' case. A lot of these guys are really undersized and underweight. You can't really do anything about size/height, but you can add a few pounds by drinking water. Maybe that's Peppers' situation.

I don't think he goes in the first anyway. He'll be a high-to-middle second-round pick.

Haha errybody and their mama knows a diluted sample is to mask toking up.

These guys are learning the NFL tests are a little more stringent than the easy college ones.

His claim is he was sick and drinking to avoid cramping up since he was working out two days at the combine. First with the linebackers, then with the DBs.

I didn't like him at 28 anyway so hopefully this takes him out of consideration.

Tbh all of these guys should be hydrating to the point that the samples are all diluted, but regardless of if he was masking marijuana use or just drinks lots of water it wouldn't turn me away from selecting him.

Michigan playing him at LB costs him even more money

Another one scratched off the board. Some of these guys can flunk intelligence tests without taking the Wonderlic.

It doesn't seem right to me how a diluted sample equals a positive test. I know if I was clean and drank a lot of water and then got popped for a diluted sample I would be pissed and speaking out about it and clearing my name.

Then what's stopping Josh Gordon from smoking a bowl and pounding 2 gallons of water right before his test.

I understand your logic but it would be easily exploitable.

It takes a lot of water drinking to give a diluted urine sample. That implies intentions to cover something up.

I understand what you guys are saying but I just don't accept assumptions as pure fact. Oh he did this so this means that. BS. Either prove it 100% or save it.

You can believe whatever you want. The league has its rules and what we think doesn't matter.

On the plus side, maybe his or Foster's screw up ultimately benefits the Cowboys.

Water is legal. Good to drink a lot of water. Anyone who has had a kidney stone will tell you that you should drink lots and lots of water. Athletes who work out a lot need to drink lots of water.
So, what's the problem? Follow up a diluted sample with a blood test if the NFL is so concerned about weed. Or, better yet, why not legalize something which over 70% of youngsters use on a regular basis? And it is already legal in numerous states. I wish the NFL would wise up and quit testing for weed. It is just a matter of time. Might as well do it now.

Many people said no team ever in Las Vegas. Well, the Raiders are there. Legalize the stuff and quit this idiotic egg hunt for positive weed results.

That's what's been so easily dismissed by the ones defending these diluted tests as nothing more than a testing error. Every single person I know that has failed a test for diluting has been trying to mask something. You have to pound a ton of water in a short time while also being sure you are peeing it out until it's running damn near clear. I've know health fanatics who drink a gallon of water+ daily and have never failed for diluting. It feels like people are being a little too gullible to me.

You are all over the map on this.

One, the league might be moving towards less stringent issues with weed. Two, fact is, the rules are the rules NOW. Three, if athletes drink a ton of water, how come more players don't get hit with diluted samples? As said in this thread, to reach the level that would dilute a sample, you would have to take in a heavy amount of fluids, moreso than even an athlete might normally take.

I recall reading an analysis on this and there was a high correlation between those who had diluted sample and had either failed a previous or subsequent drug test.
