I have a buddy who after testing for a job produced a diluted sample. It wasn't a big deal. He just had to take it again. He said he was afraid he wasn't able to go so he drank a ton of water before hand. He's in good shape.

I wouldn't worry much about it.

Guy at the liquor store said...
If they test for creatinine, then you will likely have lower than normal levels of it after flushing. This is going to be hard to explain, as it is a highly probable indication that you have been trying to flush your system to clean up your urine.

Alternating water with sports drinks though, can be a good solution. It can help to clean up the urine and to pass toxins faster, all while helping you to keep decent enough creatinine levels.

Increase Creatinine
The body naturally produces creatinine, and you can also buy supplements at most health food stores. Increasing the amount of creatinine in your urine may help with diluting various types of drugs in the system. For the best results, you do need to start about 48 hours before the test will take place. If you have a shorter window of time, it can be more difficult to do successfully. Keep in mind that many tests for drugs also will identify the level of creatinine present.

If it is spiking off the charts, it can be a red flag. However, you can always tell them that you are involved with using the supplement for a very strict diet and workout regiment. If you are in decent shape, this could be a believable story that will at least buy you some time before a second test is conducted.

You read my mind.

As someone who is not a professional athelete and works out regularly, I take creatine for recovery/growth. When you take creatine, you HAVE to drink a lot of water because you get dehydrated and you don't receive the benefits for taking it. I easily drink a gallon of water a day because of it.

I don't automatically assume diluted samples means hiding marijuana, or any other substance. For example, I am sure I would test for a diluted sample and I have nothing to hide.

He's VASTLY overrated..that's the real point, not a 'diluted' urine sample. Unreal.

I'm willing to bet that 50% of the players that will be taken rounds 1-4, have smoked weed in the last year.
Ha! More like 90%! The NFL are living in a dream world and need to stop testing and turn it over to the clubs to deal with. Simple.

Hypocrites . painkillers are ok with a doctors prescriptions. Guys taking shots of cortisone to play games no problem. But hit a blunt to relax. Nah get out my league.

If he stays clean for 90 days it is as if it never happened..... I would bet on it being a fluke

He doesn't remind me of a Ricky Williams/Randy Gregory type

Point is this enters him in the NFL's program and any slips ups become suspendable offenses.

You don't drink gallons of water than take a drug test and expect to not be flagged.

NFL should definitely stop testing for weed but as long as they are guys must pass tests or they are useless. See Randy Gregory.

You are all over the map on this.

One, the league might be moving towards less stringent issues with weed. Two, fact is, the rules are the rules NOW. Three, if athletes drink a ton of water, how come more players don't get hit with diluted samples? As said in this thread, to reach the level that would dilute a sample, you would have to take in a heavy amount of fluids, moreso than even an athlete might normally take.

I recall reading an analysis on this and there was a high correlation between those who had diluted sample and had either failed a previous or subsequent drug test.

Well, Locke is rolling over in his grave.
