Another game lost due to referee bias

It happened in the NBA and Bill Leavey admitted to making calls in Super Bowl XL that gave the game to the Steelers, The NFL also showed their bias when they imposed a salary cap hit on Dallas for violating the salary cap in an uncapped year. If anyone doesn't believe in the rampant bias, they did not watch the end of the Dallas Green Bay game last year. The NFL had every reason to stay with the call on the field and yet they went outside the replay rules to give the game to their boy Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

Just think of how ostracized the Commanders are from the NFL. Their fine was multiples bigger.

It is a long off season, we could go through the game play by play.

Or we could look at the plays in question. The ones for us, the ones against us.

It is a rare team that can overcome systemic bias in a playoff game.

Why leave out the other 15 games or so games that occur each week?

Such a detailed response. Totally not just some random crap cobbled together to bash fans of the Cowboys. But that's basically your purpose here, so continue with your reverse bias complaining about complaining.

Dude, not once in this thread have I personally attacked anyone yet have been jumped 3 times. I said refs are a horrible excuse and talked about the league wide issue. Yet twice now you've been attacking. I've been a fan since the mid 70s. So you can stop your good fan and hater schtick. It makes you look silly. My purpose is to point out reality vs excuses. Being a real fan doesn't mean believing conspiracies to fit an agenda. It silly to even debate if you actually believe we are 4-10 because of refs.

I also wondered about the intentional grounding on an int? I don't ever remember that being called before but I'm not anywhere near an expert on the rules so I don't know. I'm not trying to blame the refs for the loss because obviously this team is not playing very good right now so the refs don't matter much. I was just wondering about that flag.

Intentional grounding on an interception got me too....Ref job openings should be posted on the NFL website.

Spotty officiating is magnified when your team is not good enough to overcome it.

OK.....but each week I watch Commanders OL get away with murder. Trent Williams, after getting beat, tackled a Buffalo DL in front of the official and not one flag came out. Refs in Panther/Giant game is most glaring.

Officiating calls sway, but we can conclude it has been terrible all year.

If you don't believe the refs gift wrapped that Super Bowl for Jerome Bettis and the Steelers then I think you might be the one who is in total denial of reality.

In that game....Hasselbeck, essentially, got a 15 yard penalty for tackling a Steeler.

The game was lost because of turnovers. The game was lost because the best player was in civilian clothes. The game was lost because of uncreative play calling. The game was lost because of management decisions log before the kick-off.

Maybe - and this is my hope - someday this site will not blame the refs for losses and look at what this team really is.

This is not last years team by a long shot. And only a arrogant GM would think breaking up the band was a good idea and would make the team take a step forward. That lusting after a player he could not have, and plan B thinking he could draft a replacement for his playmaker he allowed to walk because of this arrogance would come back and destroy all the wonderful things about 2014. But then he did this before. I seem to recall a head coach who put together what would be one of the best teams in the history of this game and that same GM thought anyone could do that job.

Yoko Jones strikes again.

What's vague? Refs have been bad league wide. We have gotten just as many breaks as we have had bad calls. They have been pointed out weekly when these come up. Also what is vague about pointing out the league and Jerry are tight so why would there be a conspiracy. Maybe you should figure out what vague means.

Vague, in this case, means not using even example. Show me a call like the Jets fumble at the end of the game that decided the game. Or tell me some of these breaks. I read every week and don't see any that compare.
I don't think there is a conspiracy. I think there are many people who hate the Cowboys. More than any other team and some refs are some of those people.
The Dez catch is still talked about. The late hits Romo takes are incomparable. To use a specific example the one at the end of the first Giants game was laughably late. The defensive holds are another. There was one on Carr that was not a hold. It basically decided the game. Meanwhile Dez gets mugged up and down the field. No calls. Ever. The Tampa no Pi call literally decided that game. Not even a person like you could argue that wasn't an obvious push. Which is against the rules.

Now provide real examples and we can discuss them.

Let me guess. You won't (can't)

This team lost due to horrendously poor decisions that were made by the FO in the offseason and certainly not solely due to the referees' miscues.

Well it's pretty obvious there are always several reasons why we lost. Some of us are saying some of these consistantly bad calls are one of the factors and we have trouble understanding how they could be so bad. Yes all teams get bad calls but some of these are worse. Imo. The Fitzpatrick fumble was, at that point, THE deciding play. Of course you could always go back and find other factors. Romo out always being the biggest factor and how things may be different with him but there not and he's not a factor at this point in the game. So we are discussing a relevant factor in deciding the game. That fumble and how they could miss it. Especially, when they've missed so many others. You'd think the calls would balance out. A little.

Dean Blandino being a household name is a bad thing.... Officiating has been very inconsistent as of late and seems to be getting even more so.

In terms of the Decker fumble.... I had to go look at the rulebook and after reading these two lines:

Item 1. Player in Possession. A player is in possession when he is inbounds and has a firm grip and control of the ball with his hands or arms.
(3) If a player has control of the ball, a slight movement of the ball will not be considered loss of possession. He must lose control of the ball in order to rule that there has been a loss of possession.

I still think it was a fumble and argued this case with my family.. to which my daughter said "If it was Dez who did that would it still have been a fumble.... to which I replied 'You're Grounded'"

In case you all didn't have it, link to the 2015 rulebook: http://uaasnfl.blob.core.windows.net/live/1807/2015_nfl_rule_book_final.pdf

She's right

If it had been ruled a fumble on the field (as it should have been) there was no way they could have overturned it without violating NFL replay rules. (Not that it hasn't happened against us before though).

i thought that first one was called correctly. His knee was down slightly before ball was out of his hand. I wouldn't cry about that one. Good call by refs.

2nd one on other hand.... little questionable

For everybody that thinks the game is rigged with refs intentionally making us lose, why are y'all still watching?

Serious question

I was a huge fan of wrestling growing up, but as soon as I realized it was all fake at about 11 or 12 years old, I stopped watching or going to events

If I thought the NFL was rigged, I would probably stop watching or going to games as well, what would be the point?

I don't think the majority of people are blaming the refs for the loss. They're blaming the refs for blatantly doing a hack job on two calls that should have gone the Cowboys' way. Whether this is due to the Cowboys or due to the fact that they suck this year and could have affected the record of a possible playoff contender is moot. The fact is, the first contestable call was ruled as a fumble for the Cowboys', then overruled as down on the field by another ref across the field, then looked at and confirmed even though it was clearly a fumble according to the video and the rules, leading to the Jets' ball on that possession was an exemplification of something that could be interpreted as a "conspiracy". This tied in with the recent history of what happened to Dez last year only magnifies the issue.

Already did in another post right up from here. So yes I can..called RIF, try it. And a majority of your examples didn't decide a game. You are assuming they were wrong on bias. We have a horrible team. You don't know what happens after a fumble. You don't know if the other team game plans different if we say kick a FG. Not one player on the team has blamed the refs. Lee said they deserved every loss...a player. It hasn't even been a local media discussion and Jerry hasn't even brought it up. But somehow you know better. Again, the Commanders had 3 drives stalled after big plays were called back due to bad penalties. We scored on the Eagles after back to Back horrible PI calls on Maxwell. These get discussed in the game threads weekly by many of us. Your excuses are embarrassing as a fan base. Why don't you tweet Aikman or Moose and bring up your theory. You'll get laughed out of the building. And it's comical if you think Romo is only one that gets hit. Do you watch other games? Big Ben has late hits weekly. Brady got 2 cheap shots two weeks back. Brees had late hits with Carolina. Heck this weekend Cam Newton had guys going for his knees after being hurt. People talked about it in the Sunday game thread. You have blinders and watch Cowboy games looking for excuses. Multiple teams have had calls affects games this year:

Week 4, Lions game vs Seahawks. Refs don't call Hawks for batting ball out of end zone to give Lions chance to win

Week 5, SD v Pitt . Clock runs on touchback costing Pitt 18 seconds in final drive

Week 10, Jvill v Balt the refs miss a false start that would have been a 10 second runoff with 5 sec left that would have ended game yet they call Balt for face mask and give Jags game winning FG.

Week 11, Pats v Buff, the refs don't call Watkins out of bounds costing the Bills a chance at a Hail Mary. Also inadvertent whistle earlier where Amendola almost scored so brought back.

See!! Many games where it mattered more than ours..how about I add Lions v Cowboys where a bogus call helps us beat the Lions for out only playoff win in years.

So please stop. Read the articles on MMQB regarding the refs and what Richard Sherman wrote and you realize what is going on.

As far as our fumbles this game, I've heard 3 different interpretations in 3 weeks. First heard it's a fumble as long as it's moving at all. Another team not named Dallas got screwed here. Then I heard if ball is controlled, even moving its not a fumble. Then a variation of 2 this week. The first fumble was 50/50 to me. His knee seemed to hit as the ball came out. Even wrote here thought he was down. But have you heard anything from Jerry about contacting the league, etc? No because they know they blew game.

The Dez call never happens if not for Lions being jobbed in game vs us. Also people are misinterpreting Dez flack. Most of us agree it should be called a catch. However it WASNT a catch under the dumb NFL rules. The rules are what people want changed.

Another game lost due to a negative turnover differential.

We lost this game due to Cassel and Moore throwing 4 ints. 1 in the redzone, no less.

This team is #1 at shooting itself in the foot.

Every fanbase thinks they get screwed over by the refs.
