Id compare him to the other, non relevent, soon forgotten names of sub 5'8 RBs that have sniffed the NFL.They do compare, but I see a lot more Darren Sproles in Vaughn.
They are now in the NFL.Did Pacheco have anywhere near the college career that Vaughn had?
Sorry, but yes he was.Sorry but Sproles is not "much quicker"
He was a returner but did a lot of damage as a runner and receiver. He had over 80 catches for over 700 yards one season. I think Vaughn will get some return opportunities and opportunities out of the backfield as a receiver. Our Pro Bowl returner wasn’t that great during the regular season. Surprised he made the Pro Bowl. He returned some KOs that he didn’t get back to the 20 and he fumbled a punt. Vaughn will provide some competition for him in camp.Sproles was basically a return guy in the NFL. I posted his stats in another thread. His peak couple if years in the league he still only had around 9 touches a game.
First thing Sproles told Vaughn was that he needed to make the team as a returner.
Vaughn never did it in college. We have a pro bowl returner.
Are you blind?Sorry, but yes he was.
I have my doubts about Vaughn but like I said I’m not as down on him as you are. You seem to think he has no chance.Id compare him to the other, non relevent, soon forgotten names of sub 5'8 RBs that have sniffed the NFL.
Look at Sproles's first three years. He was a returner and basically thats it.He was a returner but did a lot of damage as a runner and receiver. He had over 80 catches for over 700 yards one season. I think Vaughn will get some return opportunities and opportunities out of the backfield as a receiver. Our Pro Bowl returner wasn’t that great during the regular season. No, but I do use reading glasses. Thanks for your concern though. Are you blind?
Not on this team he doesnt.I have my doubts about Vaughn but like I said I’m not as down on him as you are. You seem to think he has no chance.
When Sproles arrived in San Diego in 2005 the Chargers had LaDainian Tomlinson as their RB. He was in the prime of his career, so Sproles wasn’t going to get any opportunities at RB, which is why he was just a returner those first few years. Because of our uncertain RB situation, Vaughn will get some opportunities at RB and in the passing game, so he won’t have to beat out Turpin to make the team.Look at Sproles's first three years. He was a returner and basically thats it.
So basically what you're saying is that Vaughn will beat out Turpin. Someone who has never returned punts will beat out our pro bowl punt returner.
And then Vaughn does just that for a few years until hes ready to maybe get 5 or 6 touches a game?
That IS a comparison to what Sproles did. And Sproles was more talented.
We have Pollard. Probably no LT, but deserving of the same workload. When Sproles arrived in San Diego in 2005 the Chargers had LaDainian Tomlinson as their RB. He was in the prime of his career, so Sproles wasn’t going to get any opportunities at RB, which is why he was just a returner those first few years. How does he not have a chance on a team that has some RB concerns? Pollard is coming off a serious injury and we moved on from Zeke. This gives every RB we bring to camp an opportunity. Plus even if Pollard returns to form there’s no guarantees he’s back after this season, so the Cowboys have to look ahead. Personally, I don’t think the Cowboys will re-sign Pollard to a long-term deal after this season. He’ll have 5 years of wear and tear on him and the Cowboys appear to be done paying big money to RBs. If Vaughn can provide a spark as a returner or in the passing game, or as a runner he’ll pay some dividends. The Cowboys wouldn’t have drafted him if they weren’t going to give him an opportunity. Not on this team he doesnt.
Ive said it before. He went to a team where he had little opportunity. But hey, at least he got drafted that way.
He would have been far better off not getting drafted and going to a team that needed a spark in the return game. See if he could do it. Maybe stick around.
But he was concerned about not being drafted. Jerry stepped in and swooped on a feel good headline, saving the day.
We all know why the Cowboys drafted him.How does he not have a chance on a team that has some RB concerns? Pollard is coming off a serious injury and we moved on from Zeke. He wasn’t drafted strictly because his dad works for the team. They’re not stupid enough to waste a draft pick because of that. I haven’t seen anyone as down on Vaughn as you. Even though I have my doubts about him due to his size I can see the talent he has.We all know why the Cowboys drafted him.
So you are calling DV Barry Sanders?Barkely? if that the knock on him, ill take it ..or i've even seen pollard do this, lots of backs who are not power straight ahead runners LOSE Yards at times. All great to see. But what about the runs he didn't make, or got stuffed or 1 or 2 yard gains?
Not to down play it. But no RB runs like the in the NFL all the time. They will need to design some pretty good plays, and hope it takes some time before the defenses to figure it out.
I think he can have some success. But how often will he be in the game. I guess a strong TC will help with that.
so all gms are perfect and they don't pass on good players?? Romo, Purdy, Brady, KWarner, and so many it would take me an hour to make the list,Yeah, they must have some really poor GM's. Glad we have Jerry now?
https://en.as.com/nfl/who-are-the-best-late-round-nfl-draft-picks-in-league-history-n-2/Guess the other 31 teams that passed him by, round after round after round, didn't watch all these hilight clips.
then why are you trying so hard to reply?? i mean you say you have blind faith, But you don't you should just pass it by if you dont the deuce vaughn postsThats my whole deal in replying to these countless Deuce threads. To provide a pragmatic break to all this hype.
I personally dont think he makes the final roster. He'll be on the practice squad a couple years so he can hang out with his dad.
But if he can prove himself to warrant a roster spot and makes this team better in some way, then Im all for taking a very late 6th round comp pick flyer on him.
