Anquan Boldin now says he won't re-sign with Cardinals because he feels like he's been lied to.

Well played. Boldin says he was promised a new contract this offseason, and his stance could obviously change well before his contract runs out in 2010. A team leader, the Cardinals will want to keep him happy. But in fairness to the Birds, Boldin is already on his second deal since being draft in 2003.

Nice! There was no chance the Cardinals could give him a new contract anyway, their hand was already forced when they gave Fitz his ridiculous contract, which they were forced to do because of the cap-breaking terms of his original contract.

There is going to be a nice receiver on the market next year! Call me crazy, but I think Boldin would look good with a star on his helmet!

Here is what RotoTimes.com says:

Anquan Boldin, WR Wednesday 7/23, 9:42 PM CT

As hoped, the Cardinals watched two of their top contributors, receiver Anquan Boldin and defensive lineman Darnell Dockett, report for the start of training camp despite ongoing contract negotiations that currently sit as frustrations for the players, according to the East Valley Tribune.

Our View: Boldin did not speak to reporters, but Dockett expressed his desire to stay hard at work while his agent (Drew Rosenhaus) and the team iron things out. With four years remaining on his current deal, it is hard to assert Dockett has much room to complain, but for Boldin, the story is much different. He has proven his mettle and ability and worked to benefit the team in his financial numbers, only to watch fellow receiver Larry Fitzgerald break the bank with a monsterous new contract. If the team can't get him happy, it is fair to suggest he could leave camp and engage in a holdout effort to get things right. It is a tentative situation for the Cardinals, so keep track on the progress of this story.

I think they'll trade him sometime between now and next year so that they actually get something for him.

Put something together Jerry, do it now!! Ellis, Carpenter and Roy Williams for Boldin. Maybe a #3 or something too.

Boldin will be expensive, both trade-wise and new contract-wise. He'll be worth it IMO.

they have no leverage. Why on earth would you give up 3 players and a draft pick.

howbout starting with a draft pick.

I would love to see him here.

Well, it's going to take a #1 then, at the VERY LEAST. What leverage do they have? How about the fact that there is going to be, oh, about 30 other teams extremely interested in the guy?

Remember this article for what it is worth:

BOLDIN SAY HE’S UNSURE ABOUT TRAINING CAMP
Posted by Mike Florio on June 15, 2008, 5:14 p.m. EDT

Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin, who previously denied rumors that he wants a trade, now says that he might not report for training camp.

“I honestly can’t say at this point,” Boldin told Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official web site via text message.

The problem is that the Cardinals paid receiver Larry Fitzgerald a four-year, $40 million contract earlier this year. That’s a lot more than what Boldin is earning, and the gap between the two players’ abilities is far narrower than the gap between their paychecks.

Boldin skipped the team’s voluntary workouts, but attended the mandatory minicamp. He showed up for the mandatory offseason practices, thus avoiding daily fines in excess of $8,000 and, possibly, an obligation to repay a big chunk of his signing bonus.

For training camp, the fine increases to more than $15,000 per day, and the signing bonus remains at risk. So look for Boldin to show up. He can talk tough for now, but when it’s time to report for duty or risk losing a lot of money, he’ll be there.

The broader question is whether the Cardinals will keep him. The Ken Whisenhunt offense isn’t premised on a high-powered passing game, so paying a huge amount of money to two wideouts doesn’t make much sense, especially with so many other needs on the roster. There’s still a chance, then, that the Cardinals will ship Boldin to another team. Primary candidates, as we see it, are the Cowboys and the Eagles.

Actually it's rotoTIMES that is the one that does all the crazy speculating stuff.

I tell you what though... it sure feels good to be smack dab in the middle of media rumors again... it means we actually mean something again. I mean, how many times do you hear rumors about the Jets or Lions? Rarely.

LOL. Yeah, and those 3 egos at WR together just wouldn't mesh even if it were possible to get them and fit their salaries under the cap.

why would it be a one.

Jason taylor and jeremy shockey were just traded for 2's. This time of year draft picks are not valued as much.

I dont like giving up picks, especially 1's or 2's but shockey at tight end is about the same quality as boldin at wr.

at some point a 2 and a late pick might do it.
