I don't think a lot of people are down on him. But he's really just a JAG. He fills an important role on this team as a flex backer who can fill in any of the positions in a pinch.

Typical...:facepalm::rolleyes:

He's more than just a "JAG." JAGs are at the bottom of the roster and are their spot is always in jeopardy.

JAG may have been too strong a term but he's not a starting caliber LB on a good defense. He's really only starting here because we have holes at LB.

He's a guy who would be a good special teams/flex LB on a very good defense.

Not sure why that description bothers people.

And you're a typical homer who largely overrated the value of nearly every player on our roster.

No, not true, but I don't go out of my way to hate on every player or every thing this team does or does not do.
I am mostly optimistic [with everything I do] but also can be critical without the hate but with some sarcasm at times.

You can think what you want about me as homer, i don't give a rats arse. But you, have you ever looked at anything good about this team?

What player have I overrated? I usually say if this player can do this or that, or player A will be able to help player B play better.
For example, I am not hyping up Darius Jackson, i always said I will consider him a PS guy until proven otherwise.

If I was a homer as you say, I would be saying we got an all pro HOF guy in the 6th round...but I didn't....

Maybe because it's inaccurate?

You can refer to Hitch as: The-good-at-special-teams-but-not-a-good-defensive-starter guy. Just don't call him a JAG.

Can't cover....small...Isn't a thumper....lack of speed. Jimmy J. would have run this guy out of camp....Jerry is making him a starter.

Yeah, well, how would you explain 31 other teams putting in a waiver claim (or showing interest if he doesn't have to go through the waiver process) for him if he were run out of town today?

Well if you want to squabble over the definition of JAG, fine.

My apologies.

There's a dozen posters you can point to that fit that description to a tee, but Sylda's ok in my book.

Take the Hitchens thing here. You guys aren't really all that far apart on the player. Personally, I think Hitchens is a perfectly adequate NFL starter who's smart enough to become a quality overachiever type if he sticks in the lineup long enough to be considered a full time starter. He's not special, but you don't need special. The league is full of guys like him who've had long careers and logged tons of snaps with his level of physical ability and smarts. My only concern for him is his ability to stay on the field for a prolonged period of time.
