And you like the coulda, woulda game with an unknown. I prefer the known.

SO your ok with 8-8 the last couple years 10mil a yr for spencer is dumb give me 1 or 2 Oline and lets finally see what Romo can do with a line. Its not like we havent had spencer on team for last 5 yrs 8-8 at best team needs other parts.

If we get either warmack or cooper I'd be ecstatic. Spencer I like but doesn't warrant that big of a contract. I'd go oline safety running back in that order for 1-3 rounds

How about we let Spencer sign this mythical 10 mil/year contract before we complain about this hypothetical contract?

That's a move that signals he and his agent want to maintain a good working relationship with the team.

For as much crap as Kiffin gets for being so old and not being able to relate to the younger players, you would think he'd at least get some credit for being able to recognize talent and place value on certain players. With all of that experience, i'm sure Kiffin has seen enough footage on Spencer to know that he wants him to be a major piece of his defense.
You can either complain about the money Spencer's making, or wait to see how Kiffin makes it all work. That's the joy of sports ENTERTAINMENT. Stop being so dang stressed out about money, i'm pretty sure we all have regular jobs and bills that do that for us. Lets see how ol' Kiffin unleashes Ware and Spencer on opposing offenses. We still have a draft to look forward to as well.

He did yesterday 10 mil franchise witch could be 2 o-line or 1 o-line and a safety
i just hope we don't get stuck with him getting cute trying to trade him. Not saying anybody is write or wrong just would like to c this team do something different 8-8 with the same players is getting old.

What? I am talking about the known production that Spencer's gives than his UNKNOWN replacement at DE/OLB.

Advantage -Spencer

Smart leverage move for he and his agent

Both of the Cowboys key re-signings (Spencer and Romo) have all the negotiating leverage now.

And they know it.

Interesting that he signed it immediately. He didn't sign it for a couple of months last year.

What does the above quote mean? All 6? draft picks will be safeties? Or will just the first round pick or third round pick will be a safety?

Oh, I should have said with first round pick.

Mythical is right.
It will not be 10 mil/yr

At the rate the DL is getting DUI's, he doesn't want to fool around.

There is a big difference from what is available and the league. He's not a top 5 de in the league.

And I never said he's a top 5 DE in the league. I said he's top-five available, and we need a DE.

If you can work it out where we can get one of the top 5 DEs in the league, I'm all for it. Otherwise, we need to field the best talent we can, and Spencer was clearly one of the best on this team last year, and actually among the best at his position last year.

Not interesting at all really, unless you have some agenda you're looking to push. For the rest of us, its just BAU. There's already been talk that both parties are working towards a long term deal anyway, and there's also been talk of using him as trade bait.. so lets just wait and see what is actually going on before we start crying or raging about anything, eh?

your first post that actually means something is what we have always been waiting for

They do try mighty hard to field the same players every year that produces these 8-8 records. At least they are consistant.:D

I've been thinking about this. The market is a buyers market when it comes to perimeter line players. That is doubly true if as I expect Dumervil gets cut.

The Cowboys can keep him out of the market and negotiate with other ends and/or work out a trade while he is kept out of a market that is quickly drying up. He has no leverage at all as he is screwed if the Cowboys free him into the market a month from now after its dried up.

This way, the club has to negotiate with him and he is if nothing else guaranteed $10m. It is a risk because if he doesn't get extended he only gets $10m if he ends up getting hurt or performs poorly. Maybe he really wants to stay with the team.

I dunno but I can see why given the market he would rather take the sure thing.

He really does want to stay here. I mentioned earlier, he was at my brothers house, and he said as long as the cowboys were fair, he would take a smaller contract to stay.

Yep! it's called keeping the same core players every year, and expecting a different result.Jerry keeps doing it over and over and over and over.
