How about a 1-year, 3.5M contract like he had in 2014?

After making the Pro Bowl, he won't go for that. He will want more money.

And after reading that article, he may be enticed to go to the Jets or Bills to reunite with Bowles or Rex Ryan. So there will be competition for his services. There were no other takers when he signed that cheap deal in Arizona.

Cromartie said he likes Arizona and he doesn't want to keep moving his family around and jumping from team to team. He then said he wouldn't mind going back to New York because his family loves New York. Then he said he likes Dallas because he wants to retire in Dallas.

He's old but I'd take him on a 2 or 3 year deal. He's an immediate upgrade over Carr and would be much cheaper too. And it would not preclude taking a CB in the middle rounds.

AT 31...lol..thanks

So basically he is just trying to stir up the market for himself. Makes sense

any player 30 and older will say that about any team their asked about or that has showed even the slightest interest.Either that or a lot of players secretly want to end their careers playing for Snyder.
He'll go where the most money is

Gotta love the off season.......j/k...

a 1 year deal, as low cost as it can be done. Even if Carr is still hear, we can have some good depth. Scandrick, Carr, Patmon, MO, Cromartie, Moore all competing for 4 or 5 spots.
But if Cromartie was signed, most likely Carr would be gone. Or Moore.
As much as Moore has shown I think he could be replaced though too.

But rather go with what we have, draft a CB, use the money for a DE in FA if available.

I would be open to signing Cromartie, a guy with size that can win at the LOS with man coverage which would mean the Cowboys could afford to send blitz packages & also has good ball skills.

We do face ODB twice next year.

On a side note: the Eagles have secondary issues. Especially at CB. And they face Dez, Beckham and DeSean Jackson 6 times next year. And all they can think about is trying to move up to draft Mariota. Lol!

Stack the roster at this position. Sign Cromartie, draft a CB in the 2nd or 3rd and still restructure Carr downward to bring him back.

Isn't about half of Carr's cap hit already baked into the cake? ie. if we cut him there's about a $4mil cap hit?

That does not matter. That money hits the cap at some point with or without him on the team. There will be dead money, but they free up 8M in 2015 by making him a June 1st cut.

When a player is on the team and you consider his total cap impact for all years:
Total Cap Hit = Base Salary + Prorated Money

When the player is cut his total cap impact for all years:
Total Cap Hit = Dead Money

When all years are considered:
Dead Money = Prorated Money

In other words once his Base Salary = Zero the Total Cap Impact is the same. Cutting the player just changes how much hits the cap in specific years, but the overall Total for all years combined is exactly the same for Prorated Money and Dead Money. The difference is the Base Salary gets paid when the player is on the team but is Zero when he is gone.
