Any chance Heath becomes the starter?

The only person that went for a ride was AD, straight into his teammates loving embrace.

I think he's going to get a chance next year with Church and Wilcox likely gone, for better or worse.

I'm on record liking Heath a lot, mainly because he's a SPARQ guy that's also football tough. Like someone else said, expecting a rookie to come in from the Saginaw Valley 2-Stepping Doohickeys to trying to cover CJ, is completely insane. Megatron made everyone look stupid at one point or another, including All Pro veteran corners. I aint mad at Jeff for that.

He's got the physical tools and the mental aspect, but I have no idea how he'd do if teams started gameplanning for him. He just turned 25 so in reality he's still developing, he's really not even hit his football prime yet.

One person got complimented on that play and it was Peterson. Heath didn't get the job done just like earlier in the game when Kyle Randolph ran thru him and Church for a TD.

Every announcer and player laughed at us and backslapped AD for his toughness.

But keep selling that as a win for Heath....I guess he gets a trophy for trying hard......yeah

I didn't sell that as a win, but it's obvious he didn't get "taken for a ride".

So many things going on in this one play.

1. Heath STICKS IT TO AP.
2. If not for Durant and 86 for the Vikings Heath would have finished that tackle easily
3. Not sure if it's a rule but I would bet they have something that another offensive player can not assist the player with the ball in such a way. I think blocking or pushing the pile is acceptable but grabbing and holding a player up I'm sure they have rules against it.
4. Heath nearly strips the ball out at the end which is the correct/smart play to do in the situation once it got ugly.
5. If that was Church he would have wiffed completely and AP would have walked in.

Sure. If everyone ahead of him on the depth chart gets injured.

Heath had him until AP got a push from behind to retain his balance. It was obvious the first time I saw it. Oh noes he couldn't outjump Megatron as a rookie! I think it's amusing as a FCS UDFA forced into starting his first year, people still judge because he struggled to compete with Megatron and AP who were at that time the best at their relative positions in the league. I was just impressed that he was able to get in position to try and make a play on them. No one else seemed to do even that.

I also find it amusing that people don't consider the possibility of player development. He has improved each year and as an athletic FCS player he has a high ceiling and a long way to go to get there. People that act like being jaded is a virtue seem to glory in misery to me. I'll pass. I will always keep an open mind on a young player's chances to improve.

I think he is already the second best S on the roster. If he can improve playing closer to the los then he should start over Slug Church. I understand why the press likes Church because he goes out of his way to give interviews and is articulate and thoughtful. Nick Eatman is his head cheerleader but that has nothing to do with how he plays on the field.

And the people that say he isn't physical and cannot tackle just aren't paying attention. If you want to say he struggles in pursuit angles coming up to the los on lateral plays then fine but to say he cannot hit is just ignorant. He was giving slobberknockers all year last year and I'm not just talking about putting Lockette in the hospital.

He had him wrapped around the legs which is the technique they've been teaching for the past several years. He was trying to pick him up and drive him backwards into the turf. He was doing it to one of the more powerful players in NFL history until Durant gives AP the momentum going to opposite way.

The only thing better he could've done is put a helmet on the ball which is besides safety the big reason for the technique because if you're wrapping their legs and driving upwards then your head should end up around the armpit where ball carriers are taught to carry the ball 'high and tight.' Once a pile formed, you can see him trying to rip the ball out too.

AP does have world class balance, power, and was trying to spin away. He competes too.

You're the one on fault, blame and all of that emotionally charged drivel. I am telling it as it is.

And b sends the white flag straight up. cannot argue a point so resort to snark to appear still in the fight.

I guess declaring yourself the winner is your new schtick......not buying it....you need some new material

I gave a basis for your surrender. You gave up on merit and resorted to snark entirely. Me making arguments and supporting them with facts, logic, and reasoning is nothing new.

What is new is your constant whinging and doomsaying without real basis. You been okay?

You only win arguments in your own mind....you are the only one watching that movie

It isn't my job to be head cheerleader for a team that is coming off a 4-12 season and one playoff appearance in 6 years.....but you look good with your pom-poms and maybe Heath will autograph them for you

And now you decide to speak for others. More baseless nonsense. 3 posts in a row. Bravo.

I laid out facts like the technique in question, how it is designed to force fumbles, how Durant's momentum was going the opposite way and righted AP, etc your dispute is to say it's cheerleading.

You going to actually argue merit or just assume yourself and posture some more? If it 4posts in a row I'm done repeating myself.

I have to side with Heath on this one.** He was in the midst of supplexing a HoF running back near the goalline before the cavalry came and carried AP in like he was the dead guy in Weekend At Bernie's.

**Disclaimer: I am not a Heath fanboi nor a pom-pom waiver for a 4-12 team. These opinions are my own and can and do exist outside of my opinion of the team as a whole.

Church is in the final year of his contract and Heath just signed an extension. Heath is coming off of a year where he had two ints in one week on a horrible defense. He caused 2 fumbles in limited action. Actually in half the amount of seasons and maybe 5% the playing time of Church, Heath has the same number of ints (3) and three less fumbles caused over their careers.
I can't believe I am even saying this with the Adrian Peterson highlight still fresh in my head and a distant highlight of one Calvin Johnson catch???? I think it was Calvin but Heath was not only in position to make both of those plays he actually made the play at first but was over matched against 2 HOFs.
I remember the fumble recovery and return for a TD against the Giants a couple of years ago too. He has had his share of big plays in such limited time. The one thing that holds me back from thinking that Heath can outright beat out Church for playing time is the coaching staffs love for Church but I am telling you now that if Church gets injured that he might not get his job back.
In all honesty Heath is younger, faster, covers a lot better and is actually a better tackler. Yes that's right everyone, I believe he is a better tackler. Church has some really horrible complete wiffs. Anyway I wouldn't mind seeing a little more of a combination of youth and speed in the back end with Heath and Jones.

Ewwwwwwwww.... Please don't ruin my wonderful offseason.
