Any Chance Holmgren Would Be Interested In Coaching Here?

Eh. Seems like a couple of guys with an axe to grind.

I worship at the altar of Parcells. So a miserable, player unfriendly, taskmaster head coach doesn't bother me.

I have no idea how he'd do the 2nd time around but I'd give him the opportunity.

There's no comparison between Saban and Parcells. Parcells was so successful as an NFL head coach he was inducted into the HOF. Saban's approach didn't work with NFL players because they don't respond to being treated like college kids. Saban is best suited for the college game which is why he's been so successful at that level and wanted to go back.

How was Saban's stint in Miami any worse than what Belichick did in Cleveland?

To write a guy off as a failure as an NFL head coach in two years where he has a near .500 record I think is jumping the gun a little. Maybe you just don't like him personally. Like the guy in that video who claims he would physically assault him if he walked through the door. Which pretty much made his opinion on Saban to me completely irrelevant. The guy has an axe to grind.

Saban's stint in Miami was a lot worse than Belichick's stint in Cleveland. Saban only last 2 seasons in Miami because he took off for Alabama. He claimed he didn't want the Bama job and lied. He wanted out of Miami because he couldn't handle the NFL media or the pressure of coaching in the NFL. Saban isn't wired for the NFL.

Belichick lasted 4 years in Cleveland and had the Browns headed in the right direction with an 11-5 record in 94 but everything fell apart when the Browns announced they were moving to Baltimore in 95. Belichick didn't quit he was fired along with his staff because the Browns became the Ravens and were starting over in Baltimore.

Holmgren was pathetically awful with his personnel choices when he had that power. Just offal. Wouldn't want him talking to Jerry right before the draft. As a coach, well, he has been successful. Unlike Gruden, most players seem to want to play for him, so that is at least not a minus. But no way I'd want him anywhere near the groceries.

Personally, I don't think you are going to find a coach that works better in the Dallas organization. Don't think power is going to be handed over to someone Jerry's not supremely comfortable with. And coach flipping every two to three years is pretty much a guarantee of instability.

So we keep a head coach that has shown he is woefully unqualified for the job?

It dont take 4 yrs to break 500 in today's NFL bro.

Seriously.. If this team went on two play-off runs, and two years didn't make the play-offs, at 5-11, it would be better than what we have, which is just stuck.

For your information, I have it on very good authority that 'winning is hard!' And we need to be more patient with the process and not such brats, spoiled by past success.

If you simply lower your standards and enjoy both wins and crushing losses, you'll be a lot happier.

Oh and take several Valium before each game, that helps too!

Unless we win out...........highly unlikely since we have the worst defense since the game was invented..........Garrett is going to get fired.

Now folks worry about another puppet getting hired that will be a yes man and Jerry will still be in control of everything and nothing will change. However, I was discussing this with a friend of mine and Holmgreen came up. At first I dismissed it, but the more I think about it, I really think it could work. For several reasons.

1. Holmgreen has been a head coach and a general manager before. So not only does he know Xs and Os, he has an eye for talent that fits his scheme.

2. He doesnt have to officially have the title, Jerry can keep the GM title and Holmgreen will not care if Jerry is out front taking credit, which you all know is the reason Jerry doesnt want to hire a GM to begin with, it will look like he was a failure.

3. Holmgreen knows how to handle a gunslinger type QB, he had Brett Favre all those years. He will know the right balance for Romo between taking too many risks or not taking enough. Face it, the problem now is Garrett has turned Romo into a bus driver and that is not his game.

When you think about it, sounds like it could be a good fit. We get a head coach that is not a puppet, we get a pseudo GM to advise Jerry without offically having the title so Jerry can still be the face of the franchise and take credit for eveything, and Romo could get back to being the type of QB we remember him being instead of this Alex Smith bus driver crap Garrett has turned him into.

What do yall think?

I think even if he wanted the job it would be a horrible hire.
