Any chance this is Romo's last year wearing the star?

Just throwing it out there, would like to get everyone's take on it. If Dak gets some regular season time and can perform to this level, I think he may take the job from Tony.

Mixed emotions about it. Sad to see Tony go, such an under appreciated player who deserves a ring like no other (as does Witten), but on the other hand ready for the next chapter with Dak. Just hope Tony's book closes with a ring! ThIS FO didn't do him the justice he deserves and it seems it makes Jerry's heart heavy.

Can you throw it in the absurd amount of other threads discussing this. Or should I retract my stupid question.

Oh the irony. Carry on.
It is being discussed but I don't see any topics dedicated exclusively to it. May be wrong, if so feel free to delete the thread

Given his injury history you have to wonder how long the back will hold up. In the 4 games he did play last year he didn't exactly set the world on fire, and {so far}this year hasn't looked great and looks like he's lost some mobility.

Three weeks ago people pleaded for Dallas to do whatever it can to get Josh Mccown... Three weeks later it's time to move on and now Dak is the future. My how fast things change.
Three weeks ago, people where counting on Tapper, Collins, Mayowa, Coe, to come in and provide a young and fierce pass rush. Now they are starting to see. Not so much rah rah with these guys anymore. The most you'll hear is maybe give them 1-2 more years to show out.

I like feeling pumped up about the new rookies thinking my pet cats are going to surprise at camp.
That, this draft is going to come in and help. Its part of the fun.
Tapper, Collins, Mayowa, Coe didn't much but Dak and Zeek sure did.

Just hope we can keep Dak off the field for at least a year or two, Maybe Dak will have the opportunity to clean up some easy fourth quarters this year with zeke, and Amorris running well it should be a good environment for a new Qb to absorb some hard field knowledge. Not sure Romo would be willing to be a backup in the nfl...I have my fingers crossed for two more year.

Dak needs more time. I know he looks great, but it can easily change with such a young QB.

Even last year, Ryan Nassib looked MUCH better than Eli Manning in preseason games, and then this year he is God-Awful.

Not saying it's exactly the same, but you get the picture.

And, not to mention that we have him under contract for the next 4 years at essentially the league minimum. No rush whatsoever.

My question is is Romo tradeable after the season.

If Prescott plays 6 or so regular season games tbis year and plays well, I could see a business decision on Romo

If we're all honest with ourselves, there's not a person here that wouldn't kick Tony out the door if we knew this team could be much better with Dak at the helm. It's just like Bledsoe in New England. He did great things there, but there's not a NE fan that wouldn't have kicked him out the door earlier knowing what they know now. It's a "win now league". I'm truly hoping Romo can hang in there for a couple more years because I think Dak needs that time to learn and adjust, but I don't see Romo staying healthy that long. It has nothing to do with being loyal to Romo. What's best for the team comes first. For right now, I think Romo is best for this team. That could change at any point during the season, but it does not mean I'm going to forget what Romo has meant to this organization. But until they fix this D, I'm afraid it won't matter either way.....

Can't afford to cut him until after next year.

Nor would you want to if he's healthy.
