Any chance this is Romo's last year wearing the star?

No the boys will not throw him under the buss. IF he gets hurt again and makes the decision on his own would be the only way. Enough with this talk...get behind the starter right now and be thankful what the has provided this franchise in the past and for the upcoming season.

He's just like Manning & Brady...He knows this offense and how to play in it. If the OL holds up
he should do great things against the Gints.

I don't doubt it... just don't know how someone can declare he hasn't looked great. Based on what? If you went to the bathroom at the wrong times over the last couple of weeks, you'd probably wonder if he was still on the team.

Yes ....... there is a chance.

He laid on the ground motionless for 3 minutes after being tackled from behind in a very routine way.

He is 36 years old with multiple back surgeries and a multiple time broken collarbone.

The next big hit could be his last ....... and it would kill us salary cap wise.

He needs to stop trying to make something happen on his own if its not there. Just stay in the pocket and throw the damn ball away. Jesus!!! Is that so hard to grasp? Dak will be the Cowboys starter by game 3, minimum, if Tony doesn't start using his head for something other than helmet space filler.

Just got on the PC. My apologies.
Don't apologise. Pay no attention to the blog *****. Everyone is thinking it, so naturally it's coming up here and your assertion is viable given a couple of caveats: If Romo demonstrates he cannot physically play this game or is injured and subsequently Wally Pipped. So honestly that wouldn't surprise me at all. But having said that, I really hope Romo can return to form and avoid getting sacked...it doesn't seem to take much these days to break him...he deserves to get a ring here before he hangs it up.

Ask this again as Tony is hoisting the SB trophy and the MVP award up after the SB this season.
I think he will say he will be back.

Absolutely not. I think in year 3 they may make Dak the starter, but Romo will have has shot for the next two years. The only way he isn't wearing the star is if he gets seriously injured and decides to retire. To be honest, I think Romo is going to wear the star for a very long time, because even after he retires, he'll be involved in the organization in some capacity, such as coaching.

No, he's not taking Romo's job. Enough.

Now, he might be our QB next year because, frankly, it's possible that Romo could get hurt again this year and call it quits.

Romo will be on the roster till hes paid his guaranteed money. Not many people would leave that cash on the table.

Pom poms and emotions aside it is a legit question. Say Tony gets hurt in week 6. Not very hard to imagine. Dak comes in and in the last 10 weeks plays great ball and leads them to the playoffs and plays well in the playoffs, there's no way the team doesn't sit back and say do we pay our brittle 37 year old qb franchise money or do we pay our young stud 4th rd pick money. Now as mentioned on here the cap may make that a moot point but from a football standpoint its a serious question.

When Troy entered the 2000 season, nobody knew it would be his last. The same with Tony. Nobody knows but it is coming sooner rather than later. If he gets knocked out for another year then I do think it's over for him. You can't cheat Father Time. It catches up to you sooner or later. It would be better for Dak if he could back up Romo for a couple of years but nobody knows if Tony can hold up.

Given his age and the condition of his body, Tony could absolutely be done by season's end, if not before. As far as him changing the way he plays, i.e. getting the ball out or hitting the deck any quicker than he has been for sake of preservation, I don't see him making that adjustment at this stage.

And he shouldn't, IMO. For better of worse, you take that with Tony because part of his allure is how he can extend plays. Unfortunately, that means taking shots. Anyway, it's not as much about the initial contact; it's the landing. Romo tends to take some awkward spills - with the full weight of defenders bearing down - because he's thinking more about the play he could be making downfield and less about his own well-being. He's not like a lot of passers who almost instinctively fold up like a lawn chair upon impact.

Sure, we might see a period in which he ducks under, living to play another down. But long-term over the course of a season? I don't see it.

What we are seeing from Dak Prescott is encouraging, but any change at starting QB this season or perhaps even next won't be by choice on the club's part. As well as Dak has performed to this point, you don't want him assuming this role for a while. His development will take time. For the sake of his future and that of the Cowboys, I really hope he gets that.

The regular season can't get here quick enough. Once ya'll see the Romo magic again, these annoying threads will stop.

Even if we see that Romo magic again it won't stop because one hit could still end it. Nobody says that Romo can't play when he's healthy.

This is just unbelievable... People really think 3 preseason games is what it takes to take a the job from Romo? Top 5 highest rated passers in NFL history? A rookie is going to unseat all the years of knowledge in this offense?

I mean really? The only way Romo is not the starter of this football team is if he's broken in half. He will not be beat out or give way to a rookie QB.
