Any Interest in MIke Evans?

I don't see T Will playing in the slot.

Adding Evans seems like we would be benching TWill except when we run with 4 WRs. Very, very inefficient draft move , imo.

Williams would be an animal in the slot. Not all slot receivers have to be short white guys.

If both Jernigan and Ealy were still on the board I'd want to trade back a few spots and grab one of them.

Terrance Williams actually has comparable measurables to Jeffery:
Alshon: 6'3 216lbs, 4.48 forty;
2012 stats: 367 yds, 3 TDs, 24 recepts

TWill: 6'2 200lbs, 4.48 forty;
2013 stats: 736 yds, 5 TDs, 44 recepts

TWill had a superior rookie year and we just brought in a pass happy O coordinator. It's fair to argue that we might have our own Alshon Jeffery already.

TWill can stretch the field, see above stats

If Evans is the BPA when we get on the clock, I would look to trade down. If there's no takers, you have to pull the trigger.

Saw a group of mocks that had him going at 9 to Beefalo and 12 to the Giants.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/mock-drafts

Yet there was one where he went to the Ravens after Dallas.

So what if...

Donald is gone.

Zach martin is gone.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is gone.

And Mike slips.

Can you imagine the offense with Evans and Dez, and TWill coming out of the slot?

I know, this team needs defense. And there could be plenty of time to fill that need. Especially if Ware hauls butt and they save a ton of money. FA could fill a need and maybe even retain Hatcher.

I really like offense, but that is beside the point.

So, any interest? Or is this a trade down scenario, which pouts my feet to sleep because of the notion you get two god players instead of one.

I hear ya completely but the team blew its wad on the BPA offensive weapon selection in the Escobar pick last season. Just can't justify the pick considering the high picks being allocated to "weapons" cough. Too many high picks on the flash and not enough for the grind. If not for that 2nd round blunder last season, then hellz yeah! Trade down (if possible) and snatch Ealy/Ford. I hope we don't stay put and select Jernigan...don't like his game.

I was on the Mike Evans train....... until the combine and he ran a 4.65 40yd. We need somebody w/ speed that can stretch a defense. And your gonna laugh...But I question his hands. He sure didn't look very smooth running the guantlet.
His official forty time was 4.53 and his unofficial time was in the 4.4x range.

I did, and you're the one who made a statement about TWill without anything of substance to back it up.

I was stating an opinion (you are free to disagree with) and mainly talking about the marginal return of adding a WR in Rd1 vs so many other areas of far greater need (again, an opinion).
No comments by me about short white guys

Just say you disagree and leave it that....no problems

Dilemma. You never want to pass up the best player available.

I would not be upset, but they would have to make up for it by drafting great defensive prospects in the following rounds....

All that said, I hope our picks offers up an outstanding defensive prospect that we can't pass up over Evans.

No disrespect to TWill, who I really like.... But Alshon Jeffery goes and gets the ball, with his hands... Twill lets it comes to him... I always prefer the former.

The more that I think about it the more I think we'd be able to get a sweet trade back deal to help focus on defense. TWill is only gonna get better and Linehan can probably make better use of Esco. We are about to lose Ware, Spencer, & Hatch. I'm out on Mike Evans.

He did a lot of letting it come to him in his rookie season. I'll take that all day for my #2 WR

There is no question that we will need a WR to play the outside, especially if Miles is cut. We can't go into the season with only 2 wide-outs(Bease and Harris are slot guys) if one of the big two go down.

Any other season, Evans would be a good pick-up but this is at the wrong time to get a WR in the first, they have to go defense IMO. Go out and get a viable WR via FA, preferably one with speed.

If you think he's the next Megatron, you take him. If you're unsure of his game, you look elsewhere based on need.

And if the Ebron kid is the next Tony Gonzalez, you take him, too. Never ever pass on Hall of Fame potential if a guy is the whole package, regardless of position.

Green Bay didn't need Aaron Rodgers when they had Brett Farve.

If he's the best player on our board (really the best player and not like last year) and we can't trade out, then yeah. Take Evans and lets move on from Miles and solidify the position. Would also give us a bit of leverage in Dez negotiations or a decent fall back position if those negotiations did go well.

Yet, I fail to see linking drafts in that way. If the guy is the BPA, and he doesn't fit the criteria of what the team thinks is their pick, trading down is an option.

But what I fear is trading down and getting an inferior player, or players just because that seems logical to move off this player.

But then I am not a draft guy, so take anything I say with a grain of salt.
